Common problems not solved by normal methods... rattle and oil leak.

Will the constant contact with oil not degrade the belts material possibly making it more prone to premature failure?

    Bargain 172 dynamique conversion

How did he walk out the garage who fitted those doors a happy customer. With most cars like this i usually think 'thing is this would probably have been cool 6 years ago down southend seafront', but even this falls below that shockng standard.

    Gearbox whine on tickover...?

Lol it'd be an achievement if i could ay? Suppose i may aswell stick a lightweight flywheel in there whilst im at it then, best start saving up some funds before it gives up completely. Always on top of christmas aswell.

    Gearbox whine on tickover...?

Are they a common failure? It's almost come from silent to annoyingly loud overnight. I'm wondering if anything I've done with the air con delete cold have affected something? Engine lifted out of mount O/S, crank pulley changed, timing checked, lightweight pulleys etc...

    Gearbox whine on tickover...?

Surely that would make the noise when i use the clutch and the bearing is engaged with the pressure plate ( actually spinning ). Can't see how it'd whine sitting idle on the input shaft? Just after some guidance before I spunk £400 on a box or £600 having mine rebuilt.

    Gearbox whine on tickover...?

Fitted my pure motorsport air con delete to the 172 last week and ever since that very job there's a very suttle but irritating whine coming from the engine on tickover. Obviously presumed the belt was slipping but upon inspection it's coming from the N/S of the bay. When the clutch is...

CLIO IV RS - Trophy from page 111

Re: CLIO IV RS for 2013, Last news Yet people still bought the 200 lol :p No Brembo 4 pots? I've switched off past this point, IMO best feature of the previous RS.

Labour required for Air Con / PAS delete kit

Not a difficult job just fiddly, either way you'll need some timing tools to correctly remove the lower crank pulley should you have pure motorsports lightweight kit. But then again if your deleting PAS included time to change the rack and then tracking for the new kit.

Pure motorsport air con delete waste of time

Or at the least the setup lol. Okay just ran it in the end and seemed to loosen up after a couple hundred miles, but even still is very tight. For some reason i cannot get it to stop squealing on full lock though.

Nissan Platina/Renault Symbol or Clio Sedan

Personally i would have tried to 182 kit it out, F4R/ITB up front with bodykit fitted on a set of 182 wheels. ;)

Pure motorsport air con delete waste of time

There's not a number on vickys belt. I'm sure it's not me who has fucked up, I have another 182 running the same kit and both the cars are built and set up identical from a fitting point of view. If I take the alternator completely off, fit the belt and then lever it back into position I get it...

Pure motorsport air con delete waste of time

Genuine belt won't do the job, all the lighter pulleys are half the width of original and the routing of the belt is much shorter than original. Does anyone have a part number for a belt that will fit? Looking at it closer it appears the new alternator pulley is wider than the original...

Pure motorsport air con delete waste of time

Just had the joys of trying to fit the air con delete to the 172. Looks like a fantastic piece of kit out the bag, machined and powder coated alloy always scores high with me, but then again I did hand over £320 for the honour. Found the instructions online were clear and easy to follow, a few...

My Clio 172 PH1 Daily Progress Thread

Update 2. Just a quick addition to the thread. Engine bay tidiness is a biggy for me so thats where most my efforts will go. So far its just the airbox swap, engine cover and heat shield fitted. Future plans include alloy header tank, black silicone coolant hose kit, powercoated inlet...

My Clio 172 PH1 Daily Progress Thread

I absolutely luv the RC5+ pads, have them in all my motors regardless of track use or not. On track they are strong, fadeless and have excellent pedal feel and moderation. I'm yet to abuse them past their capabilities lol. On road they have excellent cold bite although on cold mornings the do...

Stickers are all gone, was a before shot. Had to keep the ph-quick ones though, luv em :p Yeah it does need tidying up here and there and it'll be a minter. Mechanically now it's nearly spot on, after that I'll start getting stone chips and dents repaired and finally a decent set of wheels...

My Clio 172 PH1 Daily Progress Thread

Right first update. Collected a few parts for a good service and refresh, these include: Motul 300V 5w-40 oil, this was in storage at mine for the 197s next oil change but im sure she wont mind :p Brembo HC front discs, genuine renault rear discs and CL RC5+ pads all round. Reason for choosing...

    Powerflex bush sleeves welding

Instructions supplied state they only need welding for trackday or race use so I'm sure they'll be fine on the road not welded. And chip to say they're a tight fit anyway is an understatement, bloody nightmare. Just be careful with the welder, very thin/soft sleeves. I blew a hole right through...

    fitting ARP rod bolts

with regards to the rest of the job, is it anymore involved than removing the sump, taking them out at a time and fitting the new items? Does sump removal require subframe removal???

My Clio 172 PH1 Daily Progress Thread

Well its about time i introduced the latest addition to the fleet, i've been a little lazy as i've owned this for 2 months now but i'll start from the beginning. Home brew almost sheep boost bus build ect

Great effort, I luved this car in PFC and was desperate to win it lol, congrats. 182 manifold for 172cup queerie

New to this argument so im none the wiser but... What supposedly makes the 182 10ps more than the 172 then? I thought the only change was the manifold/exhaust

Should i fit an oil cooler to my track car?

I got one on my ITB 197 and oil temp always remains steady even after laps of abuse. But on a standard car surely it's not needed? Motul 300V can run upto 120 safely! The way I see it it's just another place for an oil leak. Think an oil cooler reduces overall oil pressure slightly too?
