So for new years celebrations I headed from mine in Lincoln, via Whitchurch to make a collection, onwards to Warrington and then home again this morning. Roughly 300 miles in total and about doubling my total mileage in the M5. What a joy this car is!
Such a fantastic cruiser, effortless power...
I'd like to think that if you chose to spend that amount on one it'd be worth it in the long run. Good cars are very few and far between as you've noticed and they'll always be in demand as the last of the proper naturally aspirated manual M5's.
I promised myself that I'd not buy another black...
They list 2 types, a solid vented 324x28 for £30/40 each which is the wrong size (540i I believe), or the correct sized 345x32 special order only at £190odd a piece, so dealership prices. Various M5 forums seem to confirm.
Not always, from reading about online, the control arm and/or thrust arm bushes are often the culprits amongst other things. Discs are pretty much dealer only as they're a floating design, proper ///M tax!
Just the usual really, replacement Forge intercooler, Milltek cat-back, airbox mod. Standard injectors/turbo/cat etc. The 257hp on the graph above is a stock map with airbox mod and exhaust so it's fairly healthy.
Compared to my old Trophy, hard to say really. LSD makes a big difference be it...
Much better than I expected actually. I turned up in the morning to watch with the intention of getting out in the afternoon if it looked worthwhile. Surface is good, nice mixture of bends, all 3rd and 4th gear stuff in the Megane. Not comparable to a proper track for obvious reasons though...
I'd tend to agree, it's not the most interesting of notes!
And a few laps from Cadwell Park that I did in the same week back in August. Just trying a few different camera positions really. This one gives a good angle but unfortunately the microphone just picks up wind noise.
Yeah was an M3 Evo I believe. I was sat behind him for a few laps before the start of the video until he finally let me past.
Standard clutch/flywheel yes, but a new one of each as the crank seal seeped onto the old.
Just a few quick laps from Blyton in the summer, I've only just got around to uploading it. Camera sat on the rear bumper so lots of boosty Milltek noises included!
Car is stage 2 RS Tuning map, Milltek exhaust, Forge cooler etc, the usual.
Best off in HD.

Download a program called Vuze on your macbook, drag and drop files into it and it'll then show on your xbox.

That's stunning, clearly owned by a chap who knows what he's on about too. Interior is an acquired taste but I quite like it. Would have to lose the wooden trim though!
Getting tempted? Get out in one is all I can say and see what you think. They're such a nice place to be, the engine is an...
You're welcome to a few shocking quality phone pictures?
You may or may not have noticed, but the car had some light tints all round, not all that noticeable but dark enough. I don't mind them on the rear sides and rear window, but I definitely wanted them off the front 2. Not a job I was...
I'm sure I'll put some more up over New year, I've got some holiday to use up so won't be at work until the 16th of Jan after this Friday, plenty of time.
Good ones sell quickly, I was checking every day for weeks so stick with it!
At 23 its more reasonable than you might think, admiral did me a good deal on a multicar policy by matching my Megane no claims over, works out quite well.
Cheers all. I'm away with work all week so won't have chance to use it until next weekend at the earliest but I've got a fair bit of time off over Christmas which will give me some time with it.
Doesn't sound too bad does it!
No end of people have made comment about the fuel it uses. Whilst...
£60k for a standard car at the time from what I can gather, so 65/70 with options ticked no doubt. It's an awful lot of car for the money they fetch these days, and fingers crossed the good ones left won't lose much more.
Cheers Sam. Like you said, it's really quite agile for the size of the thing and you wouldn't guess it weighed 1800kg from driving it, very pleased.
That'll be a pretty penny! No problem, fire away if the time comes :)
Ha, you're the 2nd person from a Clio forum that was looking at this car! Wobba (WilliamsClio) had been in touch with him too but I was a bit quicker off the mark it seems. Apparently the enquiries have been none stop this past week between me leaving a deposit and collecting it!
Get it done...
Still got it. Undecided what to do with it just yet. I barely use one car let alone two. Admiral have sorted me a good deal on multicar though so I'll hang onto it for now. It's sat on a neighbours drive out the way.
