Quick background info incase you are confused lol. The AST's are currently on my 182, the gaz are on our track car. If after the track day we are not happy with the GAZ, we might take the AST's off my car as I'm putting it back to standard. We could buy a new set but thats a good £1300, if we...
AST sportline 1. We currently have some GAZ gold (i think) on our new track toy but not 100% sure if they will cope as well as the AST's. We loved the setup of the AST's so might put them on the 172cup after our first track day. Just researching into the idea if it came to it.
What are the two hole offsets and will it be a simple case of slotting the holes?
Has anyone tired this, will anything dodgy come of it? I'm thinking of opening the hole out so that a rocker washer can be slotted into place. The same as the AST Sporline 2 units... Comments please :D
Got a standard speedline EPS file off the net, then modified it to curve around the correct PCD. Mightb e getting some cut soon in different colours. Just need to get a price.
I can get a good discount on the AP brakes but still expect them to be £1000 plus... The mintex and DS pads are all the same surface area for the wilwoods, it's a shame they didn't move the caliper and pad 5-10mm closer to the boss as there is much more scope there, but I'm guessing they are...
K Tec's bracket suits a standard size disc, I believe the JAM Sport one is for the larder disc. The calipers should be the same size although Wilwood do a slight variation on the Midlight and Dynalite calipers from doing some research.
The DS3000 are just under half the thickness of the Mintex...
I'm having my alloys shot blast and powder coated on Monday at work. Is it only the bolt hole and chamfered face that need to be masked off or the rear boss face too?
Yup, the exact same one. For some reason they don't do the thicker pad for the DS range. If you speak Demon Tweeks, use the chaps name off the discount section on here. Just ask to look at Michael Ingham's recent purchases, the DS and PF pad enquiry will be on their database.
I'll have a look tonight but I bought the DS3000 pads for my wilwoods, Demon Tweeks also do the PF97 pads for them. DS3000 were only £60'ish delivred, cheap but the pad is only 12mm thin. The PF97 were about £10 more. Not sure on the thickness of them.
Current exhaust is good enough for now. Would love a Yozza poking under the bumper but can't justify the price atm. Fred has still to quote me on that cage so I guess that's one thing we could compromise on ;)
Car feels epic now it's tripped. Almost feels too light to get all the power down! Matt turned up in his show pony polished Monaco 172, he's having ITB's installed next week so shall see if Nick can have spin in it with him. I'm trying to warm him to the ITB side but with no luck :(
Spent all day stripping this, got heat stroke at one point but worth it lol. Nick'll be along soon to put the pics up. We now have the 16" Ultraleggera wheels and Toyo R1R wheels off so expect to see them in the sale section very soon. They look proper bo!
The chap said 200bhp but I think that was a bit an lala land, I'd say around 190'ish. Shall get it on a rr at some point and see what it really is.
We would like a full bolt or weld in cage but awaiting some quotes atm. Will probably use my cage to get the car ready for track but nothing is...
The car will no longer be used on track, I only use it to get to/from work and general weekend trips so track/fast road pads are an overkill imo. Just interested whats on the marked for midrange stuff.
I've been using DS2500 and DS3000 on both standard claipers and 4 pots for some time now. The car will no longer be used on the track so is it still worth paying the extra money for performance pads?
What midrange pads are worth using at the moment and price? I don't mind paying extra for good...
