From the epas ecu. It has a big relay internally
I'd guess if you've swapped the engine fusebox that it won't have power anymore. You could look for the cable in the engine bay and see if you can put a new fuse in the slot it runs from
One of the cables on the back of the ignition barrel. I stripped some of the plastic insulation off, soldered it onto there and then put a bit of tape around it to re-insulate it :)
Your summary of Cadwell matches mine - the zero run off is scary, you have to be committed to be quick.
I wouldn't like to do it in a race environment - especially not with those big turbo barges that don't seem to handle too well lol
I used it on a hole in the gearbox casing on my 306 - it did last about 6 months but then spat it out. To be fair though it was like a 3mm hole rather than just a hairline crack
I run exactly the same.
-3 degrees camber front, 10minutes toe out
-2.5 degrees camber on rear
rear ARB on stiffest setting
KW V2's
Grips really really well and the tail comes out nicely with a bit of lift off :)
You said you'd never run one on a Clio.
Anyway not really relevant - I was just pointing out some like understeer, some oversteer, some light steering and some heavy.
If James finds it right for his driving style then fair play it's his car :)
That's the point - if it's how you want it then job done!
The whole point is it's adjustable - I guess no-one told Fred where the nob was lol
It does look bloody twitchy though - watching the steering wheel move compared to the track it seems to be quite wobbly.
But yeah as I said - if it's...
Well there's a few people with DCi racks and the conversion that have no problems at all - and a bunch of people with looped PAS racks that are all too light, wander around and don't self center. So I think the evidence is indicating there actually is an issue ;)
Angle sensor is part of the column not the rack. The wheel can only fit in one position on the column. You'd know if the column was fitted out of center on the rack as it would have to be a full 180 degrees out to meet the connector. Unless the bottom connector has been knocked completely off...
Makes sense about the extra resistance and trying to overcome it
Mine self centers. I still think the looped rack is a bodge. Just my opinion though ;)
Yup the nob just fakes a wheel speed input into the PCM
On full that's the under 10mph parking mode lol
If you could be bothered it probably wouldn't be too hard to fit an actual speed sensor and wire it into an arduino to give you variable assistance but there does seem to be quite a delay...
That's mine at cadwell with the EPAS on about 2/3rds - far far more stable than both of your videos.
Just a thought and I could be wrong - but are you guys using the original rack looped back + epas, where as I'm using a DCi rack?
I'm starting to wonder if the original rack with loop back...
That looks WAY too light. Mine on 1/2 takes a fair bit of grunt to turn it, it's not far off no PAS at all.
That video looks like mine does on full assistance!
With the assistance on full mine feels very light and with the toe out it does wander a bit at high speeds.
I stick it down to 3/4 and it feels fine then :)
Haha thanks for the reply Sean - it's as helpful and concise as every single dealing I've had with you in the past. As in brilliant.
Nice to get the side of the story from you guys. It seems a case of chinese whispers going on, not sure why Leeds_182 didn't phone you direct :(
Exactly this.
I watched them racing at Knockhill and seen a few in time attack. Seem very capable cars and cheap to get big power from, but they'll always be a german ripoff of a classic british car for me. Bloated.
Those wheels aswell - what the hell were they thinking?
^^ Problem with that is mounting it in front of the wheel is very difficult due to the fuel tank position. I stuck mine on the left side of the boot next to the wheel arch and not had any problems on track.
Also if you still want to have some interior it's obviously impossible
Other common...
Yeah I don't think they send people back to TDF anymore lol
You can even get the EC1 re-cased back into a an SC case to remove the crappy TDF branding lol
