Don't get me wrong, if I was knocking about in a new Audi / BMW etc and had a bump I wouldn't be happy with pattern parts, however IMO they have a place, if it was a choice of writing off a motor Vs pattern part repair for example id go pattern part (and probably punt the car on shortly after)...
No, but I wouldn't be fussed if it had a 3rd party screen fitted so long as it fitted correctly and looked oem... You could argue warranties on electronics as well, you buy a new iphone and if it's swapped out you get a refurb rather than new.
A long while back granted I rebuilt the front end of my MK4 Escort with pattern parts (Bonnet, wings, slam panel) all fitted fine, admittedly I did use a genuine bumper as the pattern ones were shocking.)
Does it fit ok?
Does it do the job it's supposed to?
Is it covered by a warranty?
Don't see an issue...
OEM parts cost, that costs passed to us the consumer, if insurance as a business can reduce my over heads by reducing theirs then what's the issue.
