The way I did it was

The only way I would be able to turn it off is to use the resistors, on my resistors, I bent the legs in half so the fit in the airbag plug was tighter, then wrapped the plug and resistor in electrical tape.
How many bands are on the resistor & what colour are they?

It will be thicker than the standard printed on circuit. It might work for the longer bits, I think it might be a bit hit and miss if it works though.
I was lucky as mine is only broke on the lower 2 or 3 lines, I have got the upper most line working but not the bottom 2.
I think this is either Mk2 or a rebuild of Mk1, as I seem to remember the owner taking it out for its first outing and wraping it sideways around a poll or tree on the first corner.
