Handles superb. The rear end feels exactly the same in stiffness as before but now sits far more planted. Got to be one of the best suspension setups for a Clio.
And yes I have seen the Pole Positions Dan but am deeply, passionately in love with SPG's:o
Oh how very nice of them! lol Never mind they are cheap enough anyway.
And yes it will be after summer that I will be looking at sticking a cage in mine along with some SPG's and a few other bits and pieces so maybe we can get a bit of money off for ordering 2 at the same time?
If we order 8 tyres do we get postage discount?
And the cage is FIA and MSA approved. It comes complete with all necessary brackets etc that need to be welded to the floor and powder coated in a whole range of colours. I have very local to me a chap that will do all of the welding (which is art...
Ah well thank you:o
Lewis very kindly found a roll cage on ebay yesterday for me from a clio cup racer. Unfortunately it is incorrectly listed and is infact for a MK3 clio cup racer:(
So I enquired about a Safety Devices cage today instead, similar to the cup racer cage.
Apparently Camskil...
Tbh they feel exactly the same prior to the "modification" Only difference being the back end feels far more planted thanks to it not being so high in the air!
Handling was abit iffy aswell with the rear end in the air!
Don't panic! Once the rear end is stripped out it will raise about 10mm so will have a slightly "nose down" look
Aww chucks:o Well what can I say, you saw it here first;) Next up is tyres!
Again, once the rear end is stripped it...
The nose down did affect the handling, it was lighter on the rear and when braking hard it was even lighter!
By modifying them they re-heated the springs to a temperature in which they can then re-form their height. They then re-hardened them and powder coated them black.
Little update
Had a problem with the rear springs in that they were sitting 15mm too high at the rear, so I sent them off to Coil Springs LTD and for £55 they heat them back up, re-form them, re-harden them and then powder coat them in black, oh and deliver them back to you:)
I purposely had...
Springs arrived today:)
I purposely had them lowered about 5-7mm lower at the back as I plan to strip the interior from the rear, so hopefully it will then sit level:o
If anyone is having the same problems with their springs, let me know and I can supply you with the details you need:approve...
I have mine still set at the standard 22 clicks or whatever it is pinned at. I have been in a few coilover'd cars and the stiffest was Gaz coilovers which I found rock hard but I do think the Sachs are stiffer than the track day Spax setup which I have spent quite a few laps in. I think it is a...
Awesome.
It is a very stiff setup but love it. So much more grip than cup packed dampers I feel. I want to get them unpinned by Mark Fish sometime so I can adjust them as I will be using mine of track etc.
I would say come for a ride but your a little way from me!
I am running Trophy Sachs dampers, sportline springs, ast top mounts, camber bolts, polybushed front end, and will have a rear arb soon. Only difference is I am not running Koni rear dampers I am running Sachs rear
Speaking of embarrassing looking cars, mine was there;)
A very good turn out as previously said and good to see everyone and good to meet and see a few new faces
I have the washers taken out of mine so it sits fractionally higher but I was also talking to Dom from here about this at Snetterton as his Milltek sits slightly down at the back too.
Not much help I'm afraid sorry
When I fitted mine it was a PITA to align. It was ok in height though. Is your cat hanging low at the join? I found that as soon as the cat hung down it messed up the back end completely.
:)
Thanks very much.
They sound pretty spot on then! TBH you have to drive to the conditions with any tyre so that is absolutely fine. I think I might get some ordered next week.
Thank you for your input Mike
Also just out of interest, how much negative camber are you running on the front?
Yep Federal's. Supposed to be good so I will be the judge of that;) Everyday use and track days. I would like to get one track day in before we go to the ring though.
Not sure there will be much point me doing this one as I have just realised I have worn my crummy tyres down to nearly the limits, which is bad as they aquaplane like crazy atm but fantastic news at the same time as I can now get some decent rubber........595rsr's I think:approve:
If anyone...
Well.....have paid for the parts about a week and a half ago, chased them and still no parts!!
Going to be on their back today aswell as I am in desperate need for them. Hopefully will have my rear springs back mid week so should bring the back end down a further 15mm then will be out on track:)
