Yeah, plastic outers. Wiggling didn't seem to work at all last time. Then I got annoyed and gave up.
Well I've had 3 now, the original, then two replacements, so I'd be pretty unlucky for that to be the case.
I've no idea on the wiring or connectors mate. Mechanics/electrics isn't my strong point :o

2) It would work. Then not. Then work.
3) Fred fitted resistor pack at CSS. All worked.
4) Back to just 4 working intermittently.
