Oh yeah, I have some copies of the original sales stuff about the Cup and they promised all these "race bred" options for making your Cup into a track day beast....
Seems they were telling porkies!
Id be very cautious about buying an ex-demo myself...
My mate is sales manager for our local Renault dealer and I know for a fact that all new cars they have are hammered from day one!
The first 172 they ever got (mk1) got mailto:r@ped">r@ped from day one, the original mk1 V6 they got was...
There can be quite a big difference between two supossedly standard & identical cars...
Its just the way tolerances stack up and hence why some cars are quicker than others. If youre unlucky you get a duffer, most people get an average one, then others are lucky and get a good one.
So far I...
The 182 cat will not fit mate...
You wanna go for the K-Tec sports cat (or the Janspeed one) as an alternative, and its probably better!
This will fit directly onto the standard exhaust.
It may say you can use 5W40, but trust me they come with Elf 10W40 semi-sythetic as standard...
Top it up with any decent 10W40 semi-syth thats ACEA A3 rated (says on bottle) and youll be fine.
Ok, heres what the deal is...
From Aug 92 (K-Reg on) it was law for new petrol cars to meet newer more strict emissions regs so cats were basically standard from this point.
However, you do NOT legally require a cat on any car as long as it passes the emissions tests at an MOT, so if it...
My 106 GTi was 18 months old when I got it, had it 2 years and although not totally trouble free motoring it was more reliable than my brand new Cup!
Fuel economy wise, superb, even if driving them hard!
Great cars, highly recommended...
I really was gutted when I had to sell that 106
But, I was buying a new house at the time and I needed to get money together, so I had to sacrifice it at the time...
Was the right thing to do though as cars just lose money, but Ive made enough money on the house so far to buy several...
There never was an option for Xenons on a Cup, so unless they were retro fitted by the owner there aint any Cups with them fitted!
Options available when I got mine were a CD multichanger, climate control and silver paint, but I got a later car and originally the only option was the changer...
I always drive mine gently for the first 10 mins or so to allow the engine to be fully up to temp...
Drive to about 3-3500rpm and part throttle until I feel that its definately warm enough, and I dont then just suddenly boot it, I build it up and the final check is to make sure the early rev...
You will get ripped off in a BIG way if you were to try and go down this route...
Genuine Renault bits to convert a 172 to a 182 are gonna be very very expensive and you would be much better off going to one of the tuning companies and getting the performance & handling upgrades from them...
I had a 106 GTi for 2 years and it was a fantastic motor! :D
This was it >>> http://www.peugeotperformance.net/gallery/106/richdzidek106gti/richdzidek106gti.htmlhttp://www.peugeotperformance.net/gallery/106/richdzidek106gti/richdzidek106gti.html
Would deffo have another, it was...
Theres plenty of choice mate, but its all down to personal taste at the end of the day...
I used to have white Speedline Chronos on my blue 106 GTi and they looked superb! :D
Why do you wanna swap the Turinis mate?!
Theyre a superb wheel...
Why not do something different to them like change the colour to anthracite, or even white?!
Well compared to the mk1 V6, a Cup is bl00dy close in terms of straightline performance (until silly speeds) and actually quicker round a circuit, so yes a Cup can rival a V6 in the real world.
When my Renault mate had his mk1 V6 and I was driving one of the first Cups about (still on trade...
