[sighs]
The Cup and mk2 172 both have the SAME engine, gearbox and rev limit...
As I said earlier, a standard car will hit the limiter at 7250rpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd and at 7000rpm in 4th & 5th
True the "peak" power figure is achieved at around 6500rpm, however the power does not suddenly drop away and slow you down, it levels and gradually tails off.
If you were to short shift at 6500rpm then especially in 1st & 2nd youd drop out of the power band and it would actually slow you down...
Mine are pretty much mailto:sh@gged">sh@gged now and I need new ones, but I deffo wont be putting more Contis on...
The ones to go for are:
Goodyear Eagle F1s (expensive though)
Uniroyal RainSport 1s
Michelin Pilot Exaltos
Avon ZV1s
Toyo Proxes
etc...
Give Yozza a shout for...
A standard Cup or 172 should hit the limiter at 7250rpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd and at 7000rpm in 4th & 5th when fully warmed up!
Now summat aint right with yours...
As for the green light, its just there to warn you before the limiter kicks in, nothing else.
Well if were making a list...
172/Cup/182
CTR
ITR
Cooper-S Works
Golf R32
206 GTi-180
Bug Eye WRX
Focus RS
BMWs (not stuff like M3s obviosuly)
etc...
However, I dont just cruise round looking for races, in fact I aint seen much action in the Cup!
Well weve played chase before now, both on the road and the strip, plus I drove yours when yous just had the ECU done.
On the road there wasnt a massive difference, but then on the strip I seem to get away better and am in front 1st & 2nd, then you catch and pass me in 3rd, then are away and...
Nah, there has only been one "Cup" model (so far) and the Speedline alloys, seats, etc... are all standard items.
They changed a couple of minor things since the first cars, like clear side repeaters & de-locked one side, but theyre 99.9% the same.
However on the last few cars you could get...
Best way to check is look on http://www.autotrader.co.ukwww.autotrader.co.uk and see how much theyre actually going for, rather than looking at price guides...
And yes, an import is gonna be worth less!
Im with them, and this was even before the ClioSport discount was involved...
Seem quite knowledgable and efficient so far and never heard any bad reports about them!
