My mate is looking at buying a used Cup with the plate S 7 CUP from a garage near him and was wondering if anyone on here had owned this car and/or if anyone knows about it??? Just wanna check its not a duffer... ;)

Apparently Supersprint now do a de-cat for a mk2 172 & Cup, so thats another option...

Speak to K-Tec mate, they are launching a new range of performance exhausts with a hidden tailpipe, so visually it will look standard as its niot visible externally! Obviously you still get a sporty exhaust note and the performance gains too...

Mines getting better by the day too! Took my mates mk1 172 a long time to get up to full performance though, it was really tight from new...

Well I cant even get to 7000rpm in 5th, let alone 8000rpm, but I very much doubt theyd go that high... Its definately limited to 7250rpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd then in 4th the limiter is set earlier and kicks in at 7000rpm, I am also lead to believe that its the same in 5th, but this has yet to be...

Mine was run in properly, so will obviosuly take longer to loosen up than one that was hammered from new... Only had about 4k miles on the clock when I tried it though, and only did it twice (same night), but it wasnt keen on going much over 130 at that time! I use mine for both commuting...

Well, chris n nic has had both, so hes the man to ask... However, the fact that he had the superchip removed and then went for an R-Sport instead, which he loves might give you an idea!

Might have to give it another go now... just coming up to 6k miles...

Its quite wierd in mine as it pulls strong & hard up to about 130 then just kinda hits a wall and stops! :confused: Not tried for a long time though and it was still quite new then, so probably just a tight engine holding me back. How many miles yours done?!

The R-Sport can cope with limited mods such as a filter, de-cat & zorst, but then again the Superchip can only do the same. However it can be re-programmed to suit specific mods if you require, but obviously this costs more money. If you want a system whereby it can be adjusted to suit all...

Nope... I live way up North, so wont be there. The limiter "should" have come in at 7000rpm in 5th (or so we are told), but if yours went past then in theory yes it could do that speed! However going off my Cup, Ive never gone past 130mph as it just starts to suddenly stop accelerating at...

So how many revs were you doing at this alleged 149mph then?!

Yeah, you can get Brembos for a Cup/172 but to be honest you dont need them and particularly on a Cup no ABS + mega brakes = overkill!!!

Well £185 fitted for a chip is a very good price! Wheres that from, is it a genuine "Superchip" or another kind of chip, and do they have a rolling road to be able to setup fuelling?! Its a decent price, but you will not see +10bhp in a million years...
