Maybe a silly question. I am fitting new ball joints and wondering if the tracking etc will need doing after. If so I might as well do the TREs while I'm there.
Thought I would start a thread for anyone that went to surrey rolling road today and wanted to show their results.
Firstly here is mine, Totally standard 172 cup:
Pretty happy with the result
iirc carb cleaner can cause this for a while. maybe take it for a good drive then see? otherwise I would be looking for either over fueling or and air leak
Thats another think I noticed, the car had its cambelt done at a garage next to where it was being sold when I went to view it. That car really shouldnt be on the road
I know someone that did something simular. One morning they came out to find marker pen on their car, so in a rage and panic scrubbed it off with a scouring pad, got the pen off and most the paint!
good job though, your mate must be happy
Right Guys, I have a got all the cleaning stuff I need so am going to wash and clay my car this weekend. As I wont have time to correct the paint till the new year I was going to put on some 476 wax to protect it until then. Hwoever would it be a good idea to go over the car quickly with...
Just took a trip to Elite Car Care, got myself a snow foam lance+ snow foam, 2 lambswool mitts, 2 large microfibre drying towels, 2 buckets with grit guards, collinite 476 wax witt applicators and few micro fibre cloths. They also threw in some pads for my DA FOC :)
Also got some dodo lube and...
I think the RS tuner was a brilliant investment for the price. As for the fuel, Renault recommend using 98 ron which is on the filler cover, maybe some people think this is a bit OTT from Renault. but then to buy a map designed to run specifically on 98 ron fuel and then still use 95 ron baffles...
The battery is held on by a bracket which bolts on at the bottom right when looking at the battery. Between the battery and wing. Get a 13mm socket and an extension and see if it's tight.
thats fair enough a £1000 is a lot of money to spend on something like insurance. I think the GT looks sporty enough, and I'm sure the 1.6 has enough kick in it
I have owned both a 172 and 172 cup and driven a few 182's and there isnt really a noticeable difference in the weight of the car. I think my cup handles a bit better than my 172 did but then that can be changed easily enough though. And from what I hear the 172 cups tend to make as much if not...
Looks nice IMO. however what is the price difference on the insureance between a Rs and that as the road tax will only save you 80 a year so not a massive amount.
Not saying that because I think the RS is the only model you should go for, just intrested.
Well hopefully a few people will be warned about it but someone will buy it. Really was an awful repair and paint job, then to add the fsh comprised of three stamps one with a four year gap. Plus not the original engine and box. Really is a complete dog!
I find my cup fine until I get out of town where I live. Last few mornings people have been driving down the road I live off through big puddles which has lead to a sheet of ice covering about 500 meters of the road. its bloody scary!
