that will sound like s**t and damage the 6x9s. I imagine the rattle is probably the magnet off either the sub or 6x9s has come unstuck, only when a deep bass tone is on by chance?
You could be extra ghetto and run a jack lead L, R and G to each speaker output, ie L and G to left speaker, R and G to right speaker then hook up an ipod/mp3 player when you want to use it?
Wont be anywhere near as loud (adequate listening volume though) but if its just a case of saving weight...

stalks are cheaper now and stalk and display its not worth even talking about anymore. lol. drop me a pm/email, can also sort out a headunit too if you want
Your main unit will be under either the driver or passenger seat-normally driver seat. You will need to disconnect the unit and use extension leads to run to the stereo location and then its all plug and play

Might aswell give up on this, not made at all anymore for Alpine and no other brand supports display anymore, I have 1 stalk and display adapter but that only works with the top alpine units
