Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

What's the date? And is experience necessary? I'm a photographer (I do weddings mainly), but would love to try motorsport.

    V-maxx coilovers, fitment?

If I managed to fit my coilovers then anyone can :) It did take me about 7 hours though, haha! If I did it again it'd be much quicker :D

any one know how to turn on bottom spotlights

If you get them working, leave them off until it gets foggy. Doing anything other than this makes you a complete c**t.

Painted my brake calipers pink, spacers fitted, headlights corrected

Three grades of sandpaper, then used Scratch X on them with a DAS-6 Pro, followed by some AG SRP with the DAS-6 Pro as well.

My Arctic gets the 2118 treatment...

Looks awesome. I can't stand the standard 182 wheels. They look so chunky!

Finally got the bloody locking wheel nut off and fitted the rear spacers in the pouring rain. Before: After: It's subtle, but it is better. My retrimmed wheel is also on its way to me :D

Sandpaper, then I used Scratch X with a DAS-6 Pro, and finally polished with AG SRP.

No I bought new longer bolts. I just measured the standard bolts and bought new bolts which were longer by the same length of the spacers.

I just used a wire brush on them quickly (I mean very quickly, probably wasn't even worth doing), then just did a single coat of Hammerite Smooth.

    3/4 Plate Help

Mine is 520mm x 84mm. Some get 520mm x 90mm, but personally I find that my 84mm fits the recess at the front perfectly.

30mm (15mm each side) FK spacers from Venom Motorsport. I've got 16mm (8mm each side) ready to go on the back when I get the replacement wheel lock. I'll also paint the rear calipers when I do that. They're tiny so shouldn't take long :) Headlights could be better, but they're much improved...

The most dangerous way to lower your car?

He should rename it from 'Project loud and low' to 'Project I'm a f**king idiot'.

Only kidding, I did them silver. Before (brake disc looks like that because I'd just washed the car) They look quite silver here, they were worse in person: After: I also sorted my headlights out, didn't quite get a perfect finish because I got lazy with the sanding, it does look...

    coilovers?

Put the money aside and keep adding to the fund, once you've got a few years driving under your belt put it towards a better car which you can afford to insure. Don't waste money on a 1.2 Clio. In hindsight, I probably should have done the same with my 182. I've spent so much money on it!

    Exhaust too loud for track??

Make sure you do a driveby test as well, and not just one standing stationery.

    Spacers

Fair enough, my thinking for going for A centric was that they're cheaper, and also I don't think a companies like FK, H&R, Eibach, etc. would sell spacers which were dangerous. They have to meet certain standards, so I'm happy in the knowledge that they're safe. Before you order anything make...

    Upgraded Exhaust Mounts

    Spacers

I went for A centric, purely because I couldn't be bothered working out how much shorter my wheel bolts needed to be if I got B centric. It was easier to just take the current bolt length and add on the size of the spacer and then purchase new wheel bolts at that size. I don't track the car so A...

    Spacers

Some places, such as Venom Motorsport, list 10mm spacers as a total track widening of 10mm, ie. 5mm on each side. So be sure to check how it is listed/described from where you're buying. I've just bought some FK Spacers from them; I went for 30mm (15mm each side) at the front and 16mm (8mm each...

    Exhaust Decisions

Some people slate Milltek systems because there were quality issues in the past (I think, something to do with wleds cracking), these seem to be in the past now, and regardless, from reading comments from some people their warranty and customer service when it comes to returns is very good. I've...

Are you happy with the seller of your car?

No, not at all. Unfortunately I was naive and rushed into the sale, bought the first one I saw. - Told me it had an alarm, it didn't, turns out it's one of those grey imports with no alarm/window markings - Told me it had both cup packs, I didn't really know much about the cars, but it didn't...
