They are all pretty much similar performance wise and on the roads youre not going to feel a huge difference between the different 172s. Cup is a "stripped" out road/track racer, Mkii fully loaded, bar sat nav, hot hatch, Mki same as Mkii but older. In general all the versions are well...
You could just get a full car cover perhaps, would offer a bit of a defence, as its a bit more hassle for the person keying the car. other than that hire a garage to park your car.
weve had the MK1 vs MK11, now its the Cup vs. MK1/11. Next year itll be the MK11 vs MK111 and so on. Real life its not gonna make a difference between the two. Its all down to the driver at the end of the day because essentially they are both virtually the same car so who gives a sh1t if one...

After Eibachs:

and heres what it looks like now...
Test drive them both extensively. What are you gonna use the car for mainly. Sunday drives or everyday. How much are they gonna cost to run. Do you want a brand new car or a happy with a second hand car? If you want speed, you can get Skyline R32 GTR with 400bhp for that money.
Dealers pre-register their cars in order to boost registration figures to make it seem that they have sold more cars than they actually have. Just means that on the V5 documentation, you wont be the first registered owner and you wont get the choice of number plates to pick. Its therefore...
Not sure about increasing castor angles, though if you do a search youll find something on this forum. The offets are 10mm-20mm, though I personally wouldnt use spacers unless you get longer wheel bolts. Do a search on eibach springs for 172s and Im sure youll only find favourable comments...
17"s will blunt accelleration and give a harsher ride and less forgiving handling. Weigh up whether you want looks or performance. Personally Id stick with performance. Get 16" SLs instead if you can find any.
Get some eibachs on them, get a set of Conti Sport contacts. Cups have a 3 degree increase in castor from standard MKII 172 and a wider track from different offset of Cup wheels, therefore not easy or cheap to reproduce that setup.
Eibachs has greatly reduced body roll and increased high...
MK1 172 came with Michelin Exalto/Pilot the MK2 172 are shod with Contisport Contact. In EVO the Contis came second to F1 Eagles. Contis best in the dry and had the best lap times and braking, F1 best in wet. The test also included toyo proxies, bridstones, dunlops, avons to name a few.
Ah in that case, stip out the interior, remove the front passenger seat, dont eat for a week, run the car on petrol fumes and secretly put loads of bricks in the back of his car. That should do the trick.
Well then thats a good excuse to get a Magnex cat back exhaust.;).
Well I can only speak from personal experience, so if after 5k miles, then get it replaced or get an aftermarket one I suppose.
Ive had 99.9 mpg on my C172..... but then I was rolling down a very long steep hill in neutral at 70-80mph and had just reset the counter.....does that count?
Don;t know about the filter thing, but dont bother with replacing the center section of your exhaust, as they have to cut the exhaust to replace it.
I had mine replace only for the 4k rattle to appear agian after 2 weeks. 4-5000 mile later, no more rattle. It seems the exhausts baffles...
I though Corsa only go up to 1.6l? Just make sure you make your car weigh less as possible, eg run it till you have about 1/4 tank of petrol, take out spare wheel and jack, rear seats, put in some octane booster, go on a diet and take a big dump before you go out.
I did use a chain type oil filter wrench, but there isnt much space for leaverage in the front of the 172. Any one have any ideas what Renault garagea use?
I did think about using a screw driver but I thougt putting holes in it would leak the residue oil everywhere. As it turns out, as soon...
