All done to personal preference. IIRC refurbs do only come with 3 months warranty, whereas a new unit will come with a full year.
Tbh, Apple are renowned for customer service, so if you had a problem with it after 6/7/8 months, I don't think you'd have too much trouble with getting them to help...

I'm surprised at the price tbh. If it's been designed to compete with the Nexus 7 (which clearly it has) then it is still almost £100 more expensive if you compare both 16GB models.
