Kingdom Rush HD is superb if you like tower defence games. Spent the whole flight playing it.

If it's just browsing you want it for, get the Nexus 7. Cheap and by far the best alternative to the iPad.

I was half expecting a scene from Fight Club having read the comments from some people. Don't see a problem with it in my opinion.
