That's it so far, again there is still so much to be done but looking back at the first pictures I realize how much I have already done.
Sorry about the massive amount of pictures, and hope you don't mind me bringing my non Clio over here to CS
Will do my best to keep this updated, enjoy...
Not really done a lot over the last couple of days, as I felt I've been working on the car every day and night since I started on it. So went out clubbing friday night and turned up to the RTOC meet down Southend seafront by mistake last night :p
I did get my willwood disc's painted though, as...
So after my little sulk, I started up the other car with the F7P Turbo engine still in, that put a massive smile back on my face so I'm back on track. :)
Next day I got the car back out and winched up the front end ready to do the underside.
And that's how it still stands. :)
Started on the rear end at the weekend as the front is done for now.
Had some pleasant surprises when I took the rear bumper and arches off though :crap:
Wasn't happy at the weekend and really wanted to through the towel in with the whole project, it's just turning into such a big...
Got the most of the front end in paint now. It was going to go to the body shop to have the inside and engine bay painted gloss black, but time is tight before Mallory Park so I decieded to do it myself. I was given 6 can's of Ford matt black for free so thought why not, It was only meant to be...
Spent most off friday night In the garage cleaning of the glue left from the head lining,
Cut away some of the bottom of the front bumper to try and save some weight from it as its solid,
And then spent the afternoon wet n' drying the front end down ready for painting...
Done some more welding with the worlds worst welder I borrowed.
The weldings not the best, But I will be grinding most of it back.
Then moved onto removing more of the seam sealer.
Few more updates and pictures of my phone, was working like crazy all over the weekend until 1am most nights. There is so much work to be done and everything seems to take twice and long as planned. Still good fun though. :)
Bought a filler neck of a Renault 5 Campus to replace the second fuel...
Few more pictures.
Lovely steering wheel Isnt it :p
I bought some OE replica dails as it's really common for the faces to fade, especially after 20 years as you can see. Also a new clear plastic front as mine had a crack in it...
Have been on here for a couple of months now, So I thought I might get my project copied over as there seems to be some quite knowledgeable people over here the should be able to help me out along the way. ;)
Started on. 17/03/2011 but trying to shorten it down a bit. If people could hold out...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Look forward to reading more updates. Has seemed strange not reading your progress for the last couple of months, as pretty much been following it from the begging on other sites.

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
Do you plan on doing the rear window in perspex too ? as being a daily you will loose the rear heated screen. also it may look a bit odd just being the rear's done as they are never as clear as glass and get tiny scratches all over them. Buy another car for a daily...
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
New catch looks good oliver, can you explain to me what it actually does ?
My understanding is that it collects the water vapor out of the oil and fills up the "catch tank", but what do you do when it fills up ?
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
what ducting have you bought and are you going to put a duct/cone in the hole ?
also tried you tyre shine trick on my samco hoses and it worked a treat, and using the Meg's stuff they smell nice too. :)
your bloody everywhere james lol, looking good in some of pictures, tried looking at one of your photo bucket video's and it tells me I need a password ?
Sounds good, so what kind of spec are you aiming for to get to the 200 Bhp mark ?
Haha, so just proves what the government are saying by scraping EMA, as 90% off the time its not used for what it meant to be used for.
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
Ow really that's a shame, was it sold how it was featured in the mag or put back to standard, did I read somewhere it got traded in ?
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
Just read all 20 pages, love the detail you have put into this oliver without going over the top and keeping it tidy, just like your old Sport Ka ! also nice to someone with lots of photo's in there thread.
Look forward to seeing this taking shape, have you set yourself a time scale as i know you said you was only on EMA ?
Also what made you decided you wanted to use a C1J engine ?
