It's ok mate ive got a hose tail with a threaded end ready, just need to buy a tap for it. But thanks anyway, that reminds me i saw your PM but never replied to it :(
My reutrn has worked out reasonably well (see project thread), and thats using a 1 piece shaft. Its a shame i cross threaded the thread on the sump, it does up tight (but is stiff), and does leak :(
Im going to drill and tap a return into the engine block next time.
It worried me when i first saw it, every other previous crank seal ive done, i did it flush with the crank case, havent had an issue saying that though...
I knew this pic would come in handy... this is the bottom end i just took apart, this is how the seal sits as fitted by renault at the factory (and therefore the correct way you'd hope!)
Also id highly advise you make sure your studs and nuts are good on the turbo to manifold. Mine have rattled loost a few times.
Ill be drilling the studs and wire locking it next time the engine is out (way to much hassle now), wish id done it beforehand, you may want to do the same.
Yeah chuck it on ebay and put a standard manifold on. I cant see that manifold making any sort of performance increase over tweaking the boost another 0.1psi lol.
I seem to do that belt route every bloody time i put an engine back together lol. I actually ran it like that for a few thousand miles without ill effect but it chews up the plastic cambelt cover. do as the above wise people say :D
As above, be very careful. Once the box is wiggled back on the first thing i do is put a bellhousing bolt in and put the clutch cable on to make sure it feels OK.
Would be a right c**t to put the whole car back together only to find the release bearing has fallen off the fork!!
5w-40 Fully Synthetic, or if you got deeper pockets go for a Ester based synthetic (Gulf Competition, Fuchs ProS, Motul 300v), not really required though. Id advise an oil cooler on a boosted setup for hard use.
I used Gulf Gear oil too i prefer to use the proper 75w-80, rather than the cheaper...
Standard clutch won't last long mate.
Im using a Helix 4 paddle friction plate on a stock LUK cover, costs £170 vs £450 for a full helix kit. Bites hard, never slips, and handles the torque well. Just a touch juddery to use for everyday driving.
Ill do you the diagram tommorow :)
