Ok, so at the moment I am rolling with the standard kit lens for my 500D. I will be getting a "nifty fifty" for xmas, but also fancy getting another lens which will give me a fair bit of zoom. Without breaking the bank, which of these, if any, look good? 1...

Yea that was my thinking. The one I have seems fairly well built, good solid glass etc. I've seen a few cheaper ones which are utter s**t. What is a good brand to buy without spending a fortune?

Re the above, I currently have a UV filter on my lens to protect it from scratches and dust etc. It was one from eBay which cost about £5. Was in Jessops the other day just generally browsing and the UV filters in there cost anything from about £20 up. Is there any benefit to paying extra for...
