Beginner Zoom Lens

Ok, so at the moment I am rolling with the standard kit lens for my 500D.

I will be getting a "nifty fifty" for xmas, but also fancy getting another lens which will give me a fair bit of zoom.

Without breaking the bank, which of these, if any, look good?

What about a Tamron 70-300 if you're not looking to break the bank obviously not the BEST lens on the market but i use it for motorsport and it does the job.
At full zoom the pics are a tad soft and the AF is a bit slow but i almost never use it full zoom so this is not a problem to me.
