Hmm, well there we go........local Renault would not sell me the tools. is that normal?
Off to RPD i guess, shame as I was hoping to get cracking early.
:/

You can't swap from a manual box
Nor can you put a lighter clutch in
But you can prevent it vibrating like a washing machine in traffic with a simple combination of relatively cheap parts
Just IMO of course dude
You are crackers Niall......its a lovely daily driver.......great compromise of speed, ability and comfort.
I just does not need to be shaking itself to bits while sitting in traffic
Track use? maybe
Aaaaahaahhh.......solid detective work there Davy....CHEERS!
See this point Davy? "That's where I went wrong. The belt buckled the tiniest amount and that was enough to knock my timing out.".....how can that happen if the belt is tensioned? Is that the belt stretching or something?
J
Hey bud......yeah......I don't want to make a mess here.......I am just trying to get my head round it as I am fairly competent with cars. Old Civic's D16's and B16's I could turn the belt job round in an hour or 2 but this is obviously a-lot more to chew.
The real mingin' part of the work has...
100% in the locking hole bud. Checked with timing marks on the flywheel.
Don't have a pin......trying to see if anyone has a proper kit local.
Also checked slightly before and after tdc and there is no point where the top cam marks run straight. With my seeming drillbit-tdc the exhaust is on...
Ok......so.......please feel free to abuse me here.............but I am trying to think my way round this and understand the process.
Hypothetically.......
- my belt is fitted and currently under the correct tension - right?
- when i lock my crank using the factory approved...
Good result buddy.
Yeah. The pick up from idle is the killer for me. If I jump the pedal while out of gear and standstill, the car almost takes a gulp of air and the revs drop before it finally revs.......that is really noticeable when driving normally i.e. round town.
J
So, I don't think I want to go back to my garage now............I have left it too long IMO.
On that, can anyone specifically recommend somewhere or someone in NI who can sort my timing and sort it right? Either that or someone in Scotland......could probably stretch to that ferry as it is...
Hey Davey.......have you made any further progress with your lumpy running
I swear mine is getting worse so while my timing is deffo out, something else is at play......prob injectors based on my logs that Steve eyeballed for me
MAP reading quite high
Thanks for that bud.
Mine is 100% getting worse lately......and I don't think its just in my head. So while the timing is definitely out a bit, I have something else at work here too
FML
you know.........while I am still sure (and can be seen in my pics) that my timing is a hair out............I am pretty convinced that my car is running worse by the day here.
at 96K miles......are injectors a serious consideration that I should be having?
original plug leads and coil too but...
