A mate just called me to ask what fine hed get as he has just been stopped on the M1 for doing 96mph.
The two interesting things about this are that the police didnt have a go at him for the speed he was doing. They however did give him a bollocking for not noticing the marked policecar in...
Idea thoroughly nicked from _KDF....but sprayed silver as the yellow didnt look right on the silver background. A b*****d to get on, too. Really bloody fiddly and all the numbers are a slightly different size, so had to spend some time re-positioning them...
Unless Im really slow with the gear change, I get a CRUNCH going into 4th gear (MK1 172). Its starting to piss me right off now. Is this indicative of a dying gearbox?

Well, been for a long drive out in the peaks with temps of about 31c. Usually in this sort of weather the car feels sluggish. Today, with my DIY IK, it was absolutely superb. The 3 air feed pipes under the car seem to be able to keep the kit cool. When I stop driving, the aluminum heat shield is...
Just received my settlement of the claim for my stolen Williams 3 from Tescos. Must say that I am impressed that its only taken 3 weeks to settle the claim.
Now...any guesses as to how much Tesco valued the following:
Williams 3, 84000 miles, Standard car, no mods/ice. Registered Jan. 96...
Latest additions to my DIY induction kit. Extra 60mm duct from under the car to the airfilter compartment and an aluminium shield to keep the cold and warm air apart.
0-60 is now over 0.1 seconds quicker than with the standard airbox. Will be testing out the 0-100mph later on tonight with the...
Total cost - approx. £25.00 (and it shows! At least it works though...)
1x discounted K&N Vauxhall Carlton air filter(£10)
1x 70mm "Green" air ducting tube (£11.99 - extortion, Halfords style)
2x Cold air tubes (Came with K&N)
1x Packet of cable ties
1x pair of hands (soon to be...
As the topic says, Ive made an noticable improvement to the handling of my standard mk1 172 for just 11 pounds.
I bought a pair of 3mm spacers for the front wheels and hey presto! Much less nervous handling round quick corners, and it also seems to turn in a bit better too. Got the spacers...
Bought a K&N induction kit for £10 today from Halfords. Not for a 172, but it looked like itd fit, so I gave it a go. Went on okay, so took the car out for some AP22 testing. On the same bit of road, the car was 0.5 slower to 60mph and 1.5 seconds slower to 100mph. Ah well, just goes to show...
Ive really had enough with Renault dealers. I will not be taking any car that I have to one again. They are worse than useless.
Once again the culprits are REG VARDY of ECCLESALL ROAD, SHEFFIELD. After our 172 flooded earlier in the week, we dicovered the car was still under warranty. We...
Got into the car after work and the whole of the passenger side is flooded!!! Theres about 1cm deep of water sloshing round in the front and rear footwells. WTF?! Anyone else had this problem? Cant figure out where the feck its all come from. The cars just been parked up all day. Bugger bugger...

Seems a bit steep for 2 bolts, but I like the idea and want to try it out. Is there a cheap workaround?
My 172 vs Cup video needs hosting. Can anyone with MSN host it for me? My MSN is mailto:rhys172@yahoo.co.uk">rhys172@yahoo.co.uk. Just popping out for 30 mins but will be back by 7pm if anyone can help. Cheers.

I preferred the handling in my MK2 172, and much prefer the handling in the Williams. Bar the 3mm lowering of the Cup (Im thinking of 30mm on Eibach springs for mine) and some 16" wheels, what else do I need to do to copy the 172 Cups suspension set up?
Oh yes, is it something that can be done...
Anyone with a Cup got some AP22 data that I can look at please? Or anyone with a Cup near Sheffield want to pop out to the Dronfield bypass where there is a perfect section to do a couple of runs?
Cheers,
Rhys
Am I right in thinking it is the F1 Cup OZ wheels that the MK1 172 comes with? Are they available in a 16" size? Anyone have any for sale or know how much theyd cost?
Just agreed to buy a beautiful MK1 172 in lovely titanium silver with a mega light weight aluminium bonnet and in what appears to be totally mint condition (and a much loved by its current owner). Cant wait to pick it up...were going to be a 2 Clio family :D Roll on Sunday.
Anyone want to sell...
Holy crap!
Well impressed. With me, Ellen and the bloke who was selling it in the car, it really really mooooooved! Didnt even go above 5500rpm, but theres a really exciting feeling of coming "on-cam" that I just dont get in the Williams. The clutch and the steering felt...
Just off to look at a MK1 172!!! Not for me , but for my girlfriend :D. We might be a two Clio family soon (and Ill obviously be able to tan her MK1 172 ass with my Willy )
22 years old, female, W reg 172, £500 excess. Not totally easy to see, but Ive not doctored this screen print....

Who are you insured with?
Finally persuaded my girlfriend that her next car should be a 172. Unfortunately shes only 22, so I fear for the insurance costs. She has 2 years NCB...
Cheers,
Rhys
Just been out to find out how accurate my speedo is once and for all using one of those handhelp GPS systems. I was expecting major inaccuracies and I was expecting it to get progressively more inaccurate the faster I went. I was suprised by the results:
Car Speedo GPS
30mph...
Been investigating my annoying, buzzing, banging exhaust system tonight and think Ive narrowed it down to a badly fitted back box (standard). Its a bit too high and hits against the heat shield. The rubber mountings are also too short for the metal rods that theyre attached to, so they slide...
