I think it was P but now you say that it might not have been didnt see the reg properly cos front was smashed and only glanced at back. Are you sure they didnt do a P plate? was it only valvers that stopped at N??

You dont need a full kit if your skint, just get the springs for the front and you have to get the tortion bar adjusted at the back. Remover the plastic sh*t guards to make more room. Do you have any pics??

Then you could try to lower the rear torsion bar yourself, there is a guide available, do a search. Or you could get the garage to do it when they fit the front springs.
