Being stiff isnt an indicator os a shot box. Thats an indicator of a tight selector, wrongly adjusted selector, or similar. Crunching of gears on selection indicates worn syncros, jumping out of gear on hard acceleration, whining noises (bearings) all symptoms of knackered boxes.

There are still a couple of delivery mileage Williams 3 kicking about I believe. Marchants Renault had one a while ago, on an R reg.
Obviously u can buy Willys secondhand, but getting one new is near impossible as they stopped production in 96, and as I said I beleive there were a couple...

Ben, Owning both a 19 16v and a clio williams, it would take somthing a bit special in the 19 department to outdo the williams.
Ive been driving my 19 about alot whilst the williams is away for the winter and the difference is incredible. I seem to notice it in the opposite direction ie...

James, if the car had been sitting for a year, it should have new oil and filters etc put on straight away...
I take it you havent serviced it since you bought it - if not do it asap.

Park it up outside your house again and lay in wait thru the night, armed with a .22 rifle.
b******s, I hate people who do things like that - it will need filling first, then whole panel spraying.

Well I prefer the mk1, but the mk2 has been sorted out suspension and engine wise (basically what the mk1 should have been!)
Pity about the front tho. And I dont think the mk2 face will ever grow on me.

I have a friend who works in a dealership so he is trying to pull some strings for me.
A mk1 can now be had for less than 20k brand new.
Tempting, but I get the idea I should wait for a mk2 if Im gonna do it.
Paul
Has anybody driven one yet. Even better has anyone ever driven a mk1 and a mk2.
Would like to know about the driving experiences of both.
Im gonna go into a dealer and request a test drive of the mk2 soon.
