When you turn on the igintion there should be a piccy of a car in a skid that will light up then go out after 3 or so seconds (Usually in yellow) this is the ABS system checking itself, thus if you have this light you have ABS.
Oil has got all the aditives you need in it so why add more and cause problems. Massive companies like shell etc dont invest millions into oil research just so some two bit company who make slick 50 can better their oil technology do they ?
Just had a look at the piccys and the technology hasnt changed one bit. My L reg valver has exactly the same breaks but obviously bigger on the 172. It took me and Night.Icon 4 hours to change discs, Pads and rear wheel bearings all round.

Like Ben says its probably blocked the fuel filter, crud shouldnt be able to make it to the injectors or there is something wrong.
The lack of acceleration could be down to the fact you are carrying alot more weight around with a full tank as well... Sucking eggs and the like.
