Had exactly the same issue with mine, I pushed some of the wires underneath a bar below the radio and round, then just very gingerly edged it back, I remember having the switches out too and wiggling those a bit too. Right pita of a job compared to my old ford.
My cup is on 78k without a belt change till yesterday, having only just bought it, it was first on the list. Its now got a spanking new belt,pulleys, and aux belt on. Piece of mind for a few hundred? Well worth it.

Brakes, Bearing, Bonnet Catch, and rear lights arrived
Its in the garage waiting on a steering rack end to go on since I forgot to put it on yesterdays list with the brakes etc, Lights will go on tonight, and bonnet catch when I can be arsed fiddling about, We managed to free up the...
I believe a previous owner enlisted this chap for the job
Give it a month or two and it should be how I want it. Just a few plugs "unplugged" under the bonnet to sort.

Well it turns out the M.O.T. is dodgier than Phil Mitchell and its had little care from its previous owners, other than Stickers n a 'Zorst.
