My brother has a 1.4 6n2, I've always thought it's a nice drive whenever I've had a go. Nice torquey little engine, handling isn't much cop though. That looks a really smart car, enjoy it!

Spec when I finished with it was: -Ecosse enclosed induction kit with green cotton filter -Raceland 421 manifold -Magnex exhaust system with decat -266mm caliper and disc setup from a 206 GTI -Lowered 25mm all round on Bilstein B4 OEM replacement dampers and Eibach Pro-kit springs

I've just bought a ph1 172 with 104k on the clock, full service history and loads of invoices for work done, I'm astounded by how well it goes!

I think those 205 wheels set it off a treat and I'm usually not a fan of them on anything other than a 205! As someone else said, suits the square front end.

Release bearing going was what caused the clutch to leak oil and then destroy the box on mine so I was told! Mine did leak a bit of oil too, and I replaced the rear bushes on mine with Powerflex ones in the time I had it. Think your oil leak is probably camshaft seals...you ought to consider...

Hear a lot of 172's sound like this in the morning, my GTI and my mates VTS do it too. Only on very cold mornings, as u say goes soon after.
