PS is the european standard for power measurement in vehicles - in UK we use BHP ie 172 in UK has 172 BHP but equates to 170PS in say France - thats why the 172 is not marketed as the 172 in europe - its sold as RS 2.0 16V and the 172CUP as Jean Ragnotti after the famous french rally driver!
ECU hasn a diffent part no - it is diffenr coz of all the items theyve dropped from the spec - and all electrical items are goverend by the ecu, the higher acceleration times to 60 and 100 and ingear times and those proven by EVO and countless other mags, prove to me anywaythat the cups ecu has...
Im sure every biker reading this is pissing themselves - power to weight people - come on - bikes to about 130 in 3rd with another two gears - how can anyone argue they can keep up with a 200kg bike in a 1200kg min. car is beyond me - most of us would be scared shi*%less if we were on the back...
No the cup they used was standard - I think that was the whole point of the feature to see how it compares against heavily modded 172s! but it maybe wasnt - coz I know for sure my rev limit is not 8000rpm? Jas might know ?
Alright Me55ie - when are we gonna meet mate? Is that ur motor mate? Thats Defo a modded 1.2 - those are standard front arches and a bumper of a 1200 - the 172 bumper and arches are flared out whereas 1.2/1.4/1.6 aint!
Its only called the 172 in UK because in Europe its the RenaultSport 2.0 16V and its output in Europe is measured in PS which is 170 , but in UK coz we are backward using BHP that translates into 172BHP hence the name 172 in UK - thats why the 172 Cup is known as the Jean Ragnotti because 172...
Had a real nasty scare xomin home from work on Friday - lights up ahead where red with cars 3 up in 3 lanes, accelerated away from lights about 200yds behind, went to brake and what the feck - total wheel lock up, hammered back into first to get traction back, but no good, pulled the handbrake...
No im only using Pauls as a go by so to speak - must get mine tested but dont know any rollers over here - wait till i get the Grp N filter in and then Ill see but |I reckon the cups are pretty much even across the board power wise!
renault will sell you it but put it like this I tried ordering the silver gear housing console from a V6 and was quoted £695 + VAt for that so a bumper will be around £1000 I reckon - I have the actual V6 fogs and surrounds fitted to my Prima V6 copy RSR kit - looks sweet!
I reckon Danny/Paul and myself have the most powerful 2.0 - 186bhp ATFW - I take it were measuring at the wheels - dont really matter any way coz the losss will be the same or thereabouts for most modern engines due to friction and heat etc. I have the most powerful 1600........137BHP at the...
Theyre will be seats for the cup - how do you think they fit the cupracers then? Obviously they dont have airbags and set belt pretensioners but I dint expect to use them if I was fitting race seats anyway! May be orderign some nice sparco torini recliners - the pretensioners will just have...
Refer to CCC mag. this month for all your hairdressing upgrade needs........admittingly no works yet - I reckon theyre holding back now coz they reralise they had a sh*t package which didnt even match the hartge times or the others - wouldnt reckonit ll be much different from the others when it...

Always fe3els quicker on a B road - closer to the hedges - visual perception - on the motorway its harder to judge aceleration, but if you look at the speedo - that shoul;d tell you!
Ull pull away from the elise once he tops out above 115/120 - had my cup at 142 the other day - scary! Their aceleration times are slightly quicker coz they weigh f%*k all.
Have u raced a 172 Cup yet mate - with 181BHP/Tonne and just over a tonne fully laden (mines anyway) - u might struggle, in fact I know you would.......;) thats my 5ps worth............
There is a homologated Green Grp N element for the Mk2 172 available (just ordered one ) £35.41 all in (delivery extra to Scotland and N Ireland) 3/4 BHP max, but freer flowing cant be bad, induction kits risky unless its a sealed carbon type one - if your filters exposed ull get lovely noise...
When renault developed the 172 it was in response to the Peougeot 306 GTi -6 which was the hot hatch market leader at that time - I think it had 170/1 BHP so Renault responded with a cleverly named car with 172 BHP just to rub it in a bit! Same way RS Focus has 212BHp just pipping the Seat Leon...
