Yeah seems like people are scaremongering massively online about these. I have had two now. One cooper s and one jcw (still got it had it 10 months) and not had anything wrong with either. Got my jcw decoked earlier in the year and made a nice diffence. Cost £220 so hardly a worrying cost...

Yeah got a 15 mile each way commute so nothing to long at 20 odd mpg but would be the huge hidden bill that scares me most
