its worthwhile taking the car into renault minute service and asking them to run a diagnostic on the engine. One obvious example is a temperature sensor on the back left hand side of the inlet manifold under the engine cover. If that plays up you loose up to 15 bhp. Its a common problem known by...
STOP!!!!
1- I have a zillion pictures of fitting BMCs on mk1s including full routing for the inlet hose etc etc.
2- Why do you want one. Ive just fitted a BMC to my cup and although top end is slightly better and definitely noisier, low end is same. I ordered mine via passionm and waited -...
Hi Edd, Ive been sniffing around super 1600 inlet manifold and other parts, you just wont believe the prices Im being quoted ... could fund solid gold throttle bodies three times over for the money.
Are you based on the continent BTW? anywhere near Dieppe, Oreca by any chance??
its a brave decision. I wouldnt go for any renault costing North of £15k. As the others have pointed out you can get some very serious machinery for £25+k and my choice would be a used TVR or a new Evo.
Anyway, its a lovely looking car, and I hope you enjoy it.
suggest you skip on the decat and IK. Decat has two lambda sensors either end. you can obviously find a decat pipe with places for the two lambdas and even trick the system into believing its ok by using a resistor between them. Eventually though you will end up with a warning light on your...
black seats and black harness to avoid getting attention. black seats and red harness for a bit of fantasy/class. Red seats and red harness for maximum in- your-face-edness. Mind you the red wont match the cars colour exactly. Id go for option 2 as a nice compromise
Thanks for feedback guys. Ill go with atw figures. cant go wrong with that. And Ill continue doing a before and after RR (on the same RR) for each mod phase. What it means ATF I couldnt care less. My goal is to reach a nice ride 200hp/ton in time for the summer track season - Ill live with a +/-...
other than always benchmarking improvements on the same RR (and thats impossible in my countrywide chase for decent mods), what is the most reliable way to compare power after mods. Obviously the only true measurement is bhp/torque at the wheels, but even that will fluctuate from RR to RR. is...
definitely yes.
zorst/IK is only good for noise. On the IK, if you run a simple vacuum test on the standard airbox, you can tell its not restrictive. A cheap panel filter replacement is all thats needed if you really want to try, or just change the OEM filter regularly.
zorst/IK is all show...
Came back from Owen developments yesterday with Unichip fitted. 10 bhp gained (well to be precise 9.7) and a useful 6.6 lbft of torque nicely flattened the torque curve too. Top end acceleration has improved from 5.5k rpm and max power is at 6431 rpm. Measurements were done at 31 degrees...
its the labour + development time thats a killer.
were all going to get stuck just below the 200hp mark, having done IK/zorst/unichip/head/cam
I guess thats not bad for the weight of the clio
ducati 996 miam slurp scrunch mmmm nice
never had a bike. drove a car I though was very fast a couple of years ago. Guy in a ducati races me at the lights and does a 100 yard wheelie.
awesamundo... I thought about getting a bike permit etc after that, but chickened out (cant be bothered with...
hehe. getting mine tomorrow. livio i remember you too looking for TBs etc. Must have drawn a blank like everybody else. Do you have zorst/IK on your car?
Come on dont be shy, lets have the lowdown. power/torque/rpm. did you go for some fancy stuff (unichip can be mapped for launch control..)
hi, welcome to the club of frustrated throttle-bodi-ers.
for a throttle body conversion you need several parts (manifold, bodies, etc) which a few companies claim to provide. The only kit Im aware of in the UK is Weber Alpha and they supply prima racing only. Prima claim to do a conversion for...
only hairy moment so far with braking is driving on mway, under a total downpour (wipers on max). being on mway, the brakes/discs were cold and I had to brake fairly hard. Well, the car didnt really stop...
so moral of the story, if driving in the (very) wet, and the brakes are cold (unlike...
Ta for the advice ben. will have a look at the prices when the time comes to tweek the braking system. currently looking at power improvements and getting frustrated by the total lack of available quality mods to the clios. If I had known it was going to be so damn bad, I would have gone for...
hardly any space for bigger discs on the cup the OEM 285mm disc fits well, max size may be 305mm but thats pushing it. You can buy a standard size but much higher quality treated group N disc from Oreca in France and with a set of decent pads, that should do the trick. Oh and the group N discs...
Im allegedly receiving teh SP-08 today after a 6 week wait. apparently the first batch of sp-08 to the UK??
Anyway planning to fit it very soon as Im having the Unichip put in at the week end and I want that done with the filter/exhaust on.
I like the CDAs look (black carbon), vs the vipers...
