Louise, def go for the Blue.
There is a Blue dynamique on my route to work and it looks awesome. If the rubbing strips were colour coded I might even think it was a cup at a distance ;)
I know this should really be in the "Off Topic" section but I thought most of the readers of the technical section would appreciate this.
For those who have had the pleasure of using a Haynes manual for their car:
Haynes Manual Translation
Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise.
Translation: Clamp...
What do you guys think of poineer speakers.
I was thinking of getting some components for the front and some 2-way for the rear.
Im planning on getting a Pioneer head unit and Ive always believed in matching HU to amp & speakers
Ive currently got them out, and the car is much less rattly, but I really like them so Ill give smileys foam option a go and then if that fails Ill coat the stems in epoxy.
I did try swapping them around but to no avail
Im not really happy with the tyres on my car at the moment
Ive currently got Yokohama A539.
Im thinking of replacing with either Proxes T1-S or Proxes FZ4
What do you guys reckon and what other tyres should I consider in the same price range?
I loved my little mk1 1.8 8V golf, had this habit of going into a perfectly controlled sideways skid if you planted anchors on a slight curve....very cool, except in an emergency.
Hated my Corsa 1.6 8V with a passion...the manifold kept coming away from the engine. Once it even broke into 2...
Well the plan is to eventually lower the car, but Im N8_KOW on the studded wheels thing...not my cuppa tea.
Problem with sourcing original wheels is they will cost me 700 quid from Renault without tyres and finding second hand is difficult because I reckon there are fewer than 100 mk1 172s in...
I was in the back omy car yesterday trying to find the very loud and annoying rattle that was coming from the back seats and it turns out the rattle was being caused by the rear seat headrests.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can solve this problem?
I was thinking of putting a thin film...

The only way youll know for sure is to park a 172 and a lower spec clio next to each other and compare.
I happened to park my mk1 172 next to a mk1 1.4 last night while getting some fish and chips and there is a marked difference in the wings. the arches are definately more flared
what size wheels and what tyres do you have on your car?
I had 195/50 15" Pirelli P5000 on my 1.4 16V Clio and Id get tramlining but it was never twitchy.
Ive currently got these on my mk1 172 (came with the car) 16" 205/45 but Im still not totally convinced I like em.
I was thinking about trying to swap em for a set of the original mk1 172 wheels.
What do you guys reckon?

but then if it wore off the waer would be uneven, and if that was the case wouldnt the seats wear smooth too.
Just glad to know im not the only one with a smooth steering wheel
is the steering wheel in a mk1 172 supposed to have a suede like finish (like the alcantara on the seats) or is it supposed to be smooth?
Ive been reading reviews etc and a few mention the nice "fuzzy" steering wheel.
Mine is smooth?
