Wow - that was an awesome film! I think that I agree with the conclusions really, three amazing cars that all achieve a similar result through very different engineering, and that makes it all the better.
I think I'd have to have the P1 though - if for the looks and the turbo-nutter noise alone!
Had our 182 from new and it's still going strong - 10 years in October! Has been great during that time, and since it needs another cambelt, I'm going to treat it to a good fettling shortly to celebrate!
As someone who formulates MTF for my living - don't use simply a GL-4 or GL-5, that won't be good for your gearbox as it doesn't necessarily have friction modifiers for the synchros. You need a 75w/80 dedicated MTF from a decent brand - gl4 and gl5 are specifications for pretty much wear...
Having been out for a stag night last night (and recovered with a Fresh Basil breakfast!), I can sympathise with that!
I imagine the one you'd seen was ours also, outside our old house - we moved a couple of years ago, but have still got the 182.
That'll be mine (well, my wife's!) - it's definitely ready for a decent bit of elbow grease! I'll take this as a signal to get my finger out!
I assume you were at the food festival too then? was a good event!
Thanks guys!
As bmh says above - I couldn't remember the renault brand name for it but it is an automated manual (which I assumed was just the standard 1.2 box with the shift/clutch automated).
I just need a part no for the genuine oil (or even some confirmation that the oil is the same part...
I've got a bit of an odd request, which I thought the CS masses might be able to help with. At work we've got a 2003 clio 1.2 automated manual, which we're doing some test work on. To do this, we need to get hold of some genuine approved gearbox oil.
If anyone's got access to the Renault parts...
Well - looks like my post got a bit of a reaction!
I think a quick summary I would make is that the Elf oils are likely to be similar to each other in performance, and are likely similar blends but with different branding to suit different markets.
Nero - I had had a quick look at the fuchs...
Some interesting misconceptions being discussed in this thread - transmission fluids are a complex world, and it's hard to find anyone who knows the right answers (particularly retailers). I develop transmission fluids, and know the specs and what goes into making a good fluid.
Some quick...
Sounds good that! I have been thinking about doing this to my estate for a while, and listening to that, it might have to go on my shopping list for 2010, along with the remap!
Good to hear you've gone for the map - I'm desperate to get mine done, but with a baby due and a house move on the go, it isn't going to happen soon!
The vec is pretty rapid as standard, so I expect that extra slug of torque will give a brutal kick in the back! According to the folks on...
Looking good, and good to see another VXR owner on here! You must have had some nice clear roads to get 28mpg out of it - I've done just over 4500 miles so far in mine (an '07 arden blue estate), and I'm averaging 23.4 on the computer, but have managed over 30 (only once) so far, which was a...
I've just got myself the sigma 50-150 2.8, and it's superb - a really sharp, fast lens but not too big or heavy to have on the camera all day (unlike the 70-200, which is a heavy beast of a thing, but lovely if you need the reach!) - I've not done loads with it yet, but I'm really liking it so...
Well, I've been after a decent, fast lens for a while, since my brother got hold of his bargain priced sigma 70-200 f2.8, but haven't come across anything at a decent price. I spotted a decent deal on a used on of these on Sunday, and thought I'd give it a go...
A quick update for today - as I've debadged the back and finally got my private plate on the car... I thought the back end looked a bit bare to start with - but it's growing on me now...
Matches pretty well with the wife's 182 now  ...
(Sorry for crappy camera phone pics!)
Will...
Looks like a beast - I expect that's a bit quick!
A guy at work's running around this week in an 02 Saab Viggen estate running 360BHP, - looking totally innocuous, but sounds great and obviously goes like stink!
Some of the old Saab's out there are surprisingly quick, even though they don't...
Cheers for all the comments again - and a few bits to reply to...
Firstly the yellow trees - Vanillaroma magic trees are clearly God's own air fresheners!
It's definitely a marmite car, and I am pleasantly surprised by the small number of negative comments. It's not too subtle (although there...
Looks tasty - I saw a guy posing round Hamburg city centre the other day in one in Matt Black - I couldn't quite decide if it was the best thing since sliced bread, or if it might have looked better with a good shine... a real marmite look
Definitely made it stand out though (not that a lambo...
Wow - definitely a positive reaction then!
It's certainly a mile-muncher - but with some serious go if you want it (the dyno plot is just a stage 1 remap and no other mods, so pretty good gains!), an ideal autobahn-stormer really!
It's basically my everday car (the clio is my wife's daily...
Oops - was a bit over optimistic and added 50 - most remapped cars over on VXR online are pushing 390-420lbft! I guess that's the benefit of a combination of displacement and a turbo...
Edit - stolen from VXR online as an example of the huge mid-range and torque gains:
Should be good for an...
Well - seems like a pretty positive reception so far then;)! Thanks for all your comments!
I have to say, it's a car I would probably have never considered before, but I was getting very bored of the freelander and wanted a bit of speed, when I saw it for a VERY good price, and just couldn't...
... and it's a bit bigger than an Astra!
I've finally got around to taking some snaps of my Vectra, after having it for 2 weeks. At the moment, it's a standard '07 plate 280 VXR, with 19's, CD70 Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Climate & (aftermarket) parking sensors...
I'm enjoying it so far, I've only...
I had to replace the cat on our 182 at MOT time - and found one on the web (I think it was cats2go.co.uk, but they don't seem to have the clio listed now?) for £135 delivered next day... next nearest I could find was about £300 with trade discount...
Hope that's helpful...
Edit - found it, put...
All Mk1 GTI's were built by Karmann - hence the badge... I've never heard of the CC edition though, I assume it's a special edition of some kind...
Looks tidy though - would make someone a nice summer project (if you were closer and I didn't already have too many toys, I'd be tempted to come...
I was reading this in the local paper when I was in Germany earlier this week - That's a proper Heroic effort! Apparently some cops saw it happen as they were waiting at a set of lights as he flew through the air in front of them!!!!
