In standard form Fiesta RSTs are about 8 to 60, but feel quicker due to the old turbo phenomenon. Thing is......172bhp vs 130bhp in similar size cars, the 172 should toast it up the rev range, but I wouldnt be at all surprised if most turbo hot hatches (few exceptions like the MG Metro Turbo)...
Town and between town driving. Usually around 30-40ish mph - no higher than 60 for any sustained period - but 60 is a rarity and only for about a minute on my usual work journey. Like I said in my previous post, I get closer to 40mpg if I get an open road for any great length of time.

Filled up about 5 times since getting it now (I dont do a lot of mileage!)
Averages around 32/33mpg over the whole tank and that is all towny/trafficky/stop start horrible driving and not holding back (not caning the nuts off it the whole time either).

Thanks both.......thats explained it.........now I just have to get it into a position so it looks dark......all I seem to get is the gunmetal dark grey!!
Lordy.......all these figures. I have the Mk 2 172 Brochure in front of me now and it states 0-62 7.2 secs. Seeing as it hits the rev limiter at 60 would I be wrong in surmising that 7.2 includes a gearchange and that maybe that explains why some people quote the Mk2 172 as just over 7 to 60 and...

Is it just me or does the Pearl Black seem to vary in shade. I was looking through the picture section of Cliosport, some look jet black, and some look like a gunmetal colour. Mine is definitely the gunmetally colour.
Is it just the light?

Thats the same bloke with the Punto - he used to run the Punto Sports club, and I think hes still involved in it since its reformation. Never saw it in the flesh though!

Seems to be an abundance doesnt there! - not that theres anything wrong with that before any Silver Mk1 owners get offended!
Ive only seen 1 other Mk 2 around here ever, and it was black like mine and we had a little race before he turned off never to be seen again.
Youve hit the nail on the head Steve. This is why Im struggling to enjoy my 172bhp Clio after coming out of a 136bhp Punto GT. The Clio just doesnt feel as quick at any time (except at about 110!) Truth is that the Clio is quicker everywhere except very low down. I know this but just have to...
Simon - with 203bhp/ton an Uno would fall apart ;)
There is a guy who had his Punto GT pushing out nearly 200bhp....it was a WRX muncher. Sadly they are all Italian and not too reliable though. Great fun with lots of character however - translate character as dangerous handling!!

Oooh and Im in the middle of you two....Bishops Stortford. If you see a very dirty black Mk 2 172, give me a flash - I see none around here. One mark 1 Silver and thats it!
And sorry to just but in without any advice for your problem :(

Sorry Jon - I just re-read that.....didnt mean it to sound arsey. I just didnt want to get into a my old cars quicker than your old car argument! - everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Well......Ive never owned an Uno, but my mate had a phase 1 and then a phase 2. The Punto is definitely a quicker car. It has a quicker manufacturers 0-60, and its 0-60 is let down by the fact that it cant quite scrape 60 out of 2nd. If it could, its 0-60 would be low 7s.
However I will admit...
