Speaking as a Cup owner who hasnt driven a standard 172, by all accounts the Cup is slightly quicker than the 172 and also slightly more focussed. Evo Mag certainly rates the Cup. All I can say the Cup is bloody quick and handles like rabbit at a greyhound track.

I agree, the Phase 1s 1.3s were the ones to have. The Phase 2 has the same engine out of a VTR

Its based on the floor plan on the new Micra so will probably not handle that well. Clio Cup may still be faster point to point

CTR is a good car, but very ugly and MPV style. It may as well have Mrs Miggins Pies on the side. If you are thinking of buying one...save up a bit harder and buy an s2000

I got a chip on my Cup today by the back wheel arch. I think it happened when I was booting it coming off a round about . Only had the Cup a week but will think twice about opening the throttle when the cars not pointing in a straight direction

The Renault PCP scheme is totally crap. Awful APR .Much better to get a 5 yr bank loan and sell privatley after 3 yrs. Your car is not on an HPI register either so you can sell at any time.

Picked my Cup up yesterday, a 52 plate with 3500 miles on the clock. Have to say its mint, no rattles ( apart from the tyre mousse in the boot ) Washed it today and the paintwork is faultless. Have to say I am happy !!

Looks in good nick for an H reg...Do you get classic car insurance on that?? I have heard they are good motors but just like Sierra Cosworths , they look a bit dated now. Just my opinion.

The Renault Finance is pathetic . If you want low monthly payments just take out a 5yr loan with Lombard or Alliance & Leicester then peddle it after 3 years, you car should pay off the outsatnding finance and have a bit for a deposit on your new chariot, works out much cheaper than these PCP...

Go for the Cup!! You will always regret it when that Cup next to you at the traffic lights pulls out a cars lengh on you. People buy 172s for the driving experience first and foremost. If you want a luxury car buy a beemer.
