I have the pin to lock the crank for tensioning the cam belt and setting the timing but I've heard people talking about a tool to lock the crank via the fly wheel for tightening the crank pulley bolt. Previously I've used a screw driver but this never feels 100%...

It is identical except the bottom bracket that the long bolt goes through is not threaded. It is as though a longer bolt with a nut on the end is needed.
So I wanted to know if this is the wrong alternator or I just need to get a new longer bolt?
Maybe it was on a different model?

What do people use to seal the cam cover, the technote refers to "loctite 518" WTF is that? And how do people put it on - roller?

I've just taken my cat off and there was no gasket, which seemed fine.
Going to buy a new fixing kit and the picture on the ktec web site has a wirewool type gasket to go between the cat and the manifold. Should there be a gasket or not?
Where can I buy one, can't find it on the web.
I don't mean the one for locking the cams in position I mean the one for holding the pinions while you tighten the bolts.
After having one crash without having it recorded I've decided it's time to get something to mount a camera on.

I've noticed on frosty mornings that the ice melts around my washer jets on the bonnet while I'm de-icing the car. This is with engine cold, heaters on full, fan on full to windscreen and heated rear window on.
Anyone know what turns these heaters on? I can't figure it out and my washers keep...

See picture below do I need to slacken A in order to release the tension using the 3/8" square hole?
It looks to me like C should rotate within B without slackening A. This is certainly not the case for my tensioner.

The Ktec stealth was 82db with std cat at my last track outing. I don't want to get a decat and find it's too noisy to pass.
I've seen this stuff in Halfords. I'm talking the Mobil 1 stuff rather than their own take on it. They brand it "motorsport" or something similar.
Any thoughts on this stuff versus the equivalent 0W40 or 5W40?
Is it just not necessary or is it even a bad idea?

I've removed bumper and slam panel. I can see the tensioner. It has a torx type bolt at the top and bottom and a square hole at the bottom next to the bottom torx bolt.
