I pre-filled the filter before cranking.
The engine was getting a full bottom end rebuild and I've now fitted a mocal laminova oil cooler via a non thermostatic sandwich plate.
Got the engine back in and all connected up and primed the turbo feed and oil cooler and lines.
I disconnected the coil pack and fuel pump and removed the spark plugs so the was no compression. After cranking the thing 6 times for 20 secs each time there is still no oil flow to the turbo...
Good spec mate, enjoy! :approve:
You may find the pads glazing with those discs under heavy braking. I use max discs with them on track with no issues.
Sounds like you're going all the way with this one, should be epic!
Where did you get the windows, they're on my list of things still to do?
What sort of power level are you aiming for?
Re: mintys 172 turbo
What about a turbo engine conversion? ;)
Yeah, scoff doesnthe plug andnplay mapping for these conversions. He was working on it when mine was at his getting mapped.
Good conversion mate!
AN6 or -6AN is 6/16" which equals 0.375" or 9.525mm.
AN5 or -5AN is 5/16" which equals 0.3125" or 7.9375mm which is what I went for as all my OE fittings were 8mm OD.
This is more than enough for fuel supply at around 3-5bar...
If you have kw coilovers, use the camber adjustment on the coilover at the hub and use the ast mounts for caster and a little camber ie set the three cap screws outward towards the front of the car.
It's on a ported megane 225 inlet manifold using a megane 1.6 16v TB with an offset tapered adaptor piece to join them.
What do you mean 'lose me resolution' Chip?
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Got the rest of the engine bay assembly finished off and also fitted the driveshafts. Thats everything done apart from the oil cooler lines and then I can fit the radiator and boost pipes from the intercooler to the inlet manifold.

Needs to be on the pressure side so after the turbo. Anywhere on the inlet manifold that there is a pipe coming off it you can cut a t piece in. I would avoid the brake servo line though as if you get a leak you don't want to lose your brakes.
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Yup, 2 were from torques and 2 were from demon motorsport. The demon ones fit and the torques don't.
I'll order some 1/2" bsp to an10 male adapters to fit on the sandwich plate and the I can fit the same an10 fittings from demon.
Just annoying as I wanted the car...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Yeah, it's 1/2" bsp to AN10 straight fittings I have for the sandwich plate but it's the hose side that won't work with the hose I have. It's not Teflon hose I have either, just steel braided rubber.
It was the 1/2" bsp to an10 fitting for the sandwich plate. It was too tight to push the hose in with the insert inside the hose if you know what I mean.
The an10 to an10 fittings for the cooler were fine.
Some nice goodies there!
Hope you don't have the same issue I had that some fittings and hoses are not compatible with each other. Very annoying!
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
I like the idea they came up with. They are a good machine shop and I use them a lot for work so know their workmanship.
Got the engine in today and all the wiring loom conneted. Started to fit my mocal laminova oil cooler but the straight fittings I have from the...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Here is a few pics of my machined helix cover plate. The company did quite a good job by actually welding a large pipe to allow them to hold it in the chuck to allow them to skim the face of the pressure plate.
Cover plate after removing pipe:
Pressure plate after skim...
