Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Got the oil changed today after reaching 200 miles with the millers running in oil. Changed to some top quality halfords semi 10w40. Then went out a drive and managed another 70 miles so only another 230 or so to go. I'm varying the load, rpm and increasing boost slightly...
Your helpers look enthusiastic! :D
Thinking about some spacers myself. Do you get any rubbing on the front with the 25's and how much lower are you than standard?
Re: Our ring and spa report (3 TF days, 1 trackday at ring, 1 trackday at spa) Pics/V
Brilliant write up indeed. Makes me want to do it in mine but need to see what the reliability is going to be like to be confident enough to do that many miles and track days.
You could end up throwing good money after bad trying to get the stock ecu to do something it's not designed for. Keep your eyes open for even an omex unit that would do a better job.
Stand alone or piggy back the only way to get this running right IMO. I use the adaptronic ecu mapped by scoff and would recommend it.
What map sensor do you have?
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Good shout mate. I'll pop over very soon! The mrs doesnt want me venturing to far from home as she is due to drop any day now so staying semi local just now.
You picked up the car yet?
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Running in is going well, just slow. Managed to do 72 miles so far, lol.
Pic of the car during the run today:
Only another 128 to go then another oil and filter change then another 200 and another oil and filter change then bootang! ;)
From memory:
Remove battery
Remove airbox and inlet pipe
Remove ecu bracket
Take the weight of the gearbox with a trolley jack
Disconnect loom from mount
Remove 3 17mm bolts holding mount to gearbox
Remove 4 13mm bolts holding mount to chassis
Pull the mount free from the bay
Unbolt upper and...
Nothing special about fitting the mounts that I know of. I use the vibratechnic mounts which give slightly more vibration through the car but nothing that bothers me.
No point in larger rears. The standard ones hardly do anything anyway.
