Should do, mine works across two ring mains, and plugged in an extension lead, Tells you not to plug it in an extension, but mines worked for years, and also has its own wifi.

I changed mine on my 197, but seemed ok, changed the one on my 250 which was on its way out. While everything is off it always better to change as your only paying for the cost of the part.
Whilst running unplug one and plug back in and then unplug the next one, change in engine means its not the one, if the engine doesnt change thats the one.
Do you use the card in the slot or in your pocket? They have been known to stop picking up the card for being used outside the slot for so long. Mine did, and after using the slot more often the times i did use it keyless it worked fine.
