So I was impatient (as usual) and got the coilovers fitted last night, thanks to lemonnobby1
Just the one quick pic, I think it may be ever so slightly too low, but we'll see how it looks when I get the new wheels on (which won't be for around a month, no really I'm serious this time!)
I love how loads of people gave you good advice about how to do it properly and you just ignored them all :P Putting some clear lacquer on would've at least made it a bit more resistant to chipping since it's going to be something that gets used quite a lot but oh well, as long as you're happy...
I couldn't get my camera (on my phone) to focus in that close to see which way around they were before taking anything off. As I said I'm sure all but one are correct, since they were working and lit in that position. The unaccounted for one I believe is the right way around as the one next to...
I'm not sure, 2 of them aren't lit (one either side of the multi display in the middle) but each of their corresponding LEDs are, and they are in sequence with one another, so I assume they must be the right way around. They are technically SMDs, but I assume the D still stands for diode so that...
I couldn't tell you how my speedo sensor is driven I'm afraid. It's a 2003 dci 80 if that gives any clue.
I thought it was possible that I'd fried part of the first one, since i took out the motor to make it easier to access the LEDs, but I didn't touch it this time. I really haven't got a clue.
The mph dial needle is not moving. I thought this was because I fried part of the circuitboard while installing LEDs in place of the orange lights that light the dials. So I ordered a new set of clocks, took the circuitboard out of that, installed LEDs without touching the motor that turns the...
Thanks for the advice but I'm afraid I can barely tell a spanner from a spoon. I don't own axle stands or other necessary equipment and I definitely don't trust myself messing about with something as important as suspension.
Looking for someone to fit coilovers for me in the Bristol area, towards the end of this week if possible and preferably for <£50.
I normally go to Dan at SJ motors but he's busy until early next month and I'm impatient.
Anyone?
I did an LED dash conversion yesterday and disconnected the motors that move the needles to make it easier to get at the bulbs. However, put them back in and now the rev counter moves correctly but the mph one doesn't move properly. It seems to tick a little, so it must be at least partly...
I've used city powder coating before. I rang them last week but they say they can't do the colour I want with powdercoating. I already have the paint too.
Got a set of wheels that I planned to refurbish myself. However, after many hours of sanding and still not even being close to finishing one wheel, I'm on the brink of giving up.
I was wondering if there was anywhere that would strip the paint off, back to the metal for me? For a price...
First little update in a while. I'd fell out of love with my car a bit, not doing anything to it for a while. But since I started selling off parts of my old car, the people buying them (mainly ZanderMichaelJason ) got me talking about plans for the car, and seeing other modifying their clios...
Just got them out and had a proper look. I don't have a bag labelled dash cluster, although it looks like the bag labelled LED switch conversion kit has the right ones, I may have been looking in the wrong bag.
Thanks
Just ordered and received this kit: http://www.crazyleds.co.uk/Clio-MK2-Full-SMD-LED-dash-conversion-kit..html
It said they would email a guide for fitting it but I haven't received it. I was just wondering if anyone else had ordered it and still had the guide somewhere? I've found a cliosport...
I'd quite like a campus rear end for mine but you'd need both the rear bumper and boot for it to look right. I just can't justify shelling out >£100 for it when I already quite like the look of mine from the back.
How long are you planning on keeping the car? You could always keep the...
I paid someone to source, paint and fit mine. Can't remember exactly how much it cost because I had other bits done, it's certainly one of my favourite modifications though.
I imagine the campus sport is the better model. It'll have 16 valves rather than 8 valves of the campus, 75hp rather than 60. Insurance will be more due to it being faster and a more desirable car (marginally) and therefore more likely to be stolen.
They don't do a sport in the same silver as your cars as far as I know so you'd have to buy one and then get it sprayed the right colour.
For the 172 rear bumper you just need the bumper and the arch liners as they are different on a 172. Not a huge job as far as I know. It's the front sport...
