Yes, you'll muller the outside edges of the front tyres where they are at the moment. About 1.5-2 should be ok depending on how often you venture on track and how hard you drive on the road.
They aren't much quicker unless: You're right at the limits of adhesion, it's really warm, you do long sessions (or all three of those).
Tested soft NS2Rs at Snetterton the other week against almost new (full tread) £30 Nankang road tyres we're racing on this year, less than 2s difference on a...
The first video is dann2707 in his Clio, the second one is my MX-5 but with 3 different drivers - Dan, then me, then me and another chap with the split screen.
I don't think Dan was out to set a fast time or get perfect lines in my hairdresser mobile, he just wanted to get his gangsta on and...
Be really interesting to see the difference actually - hope we get the same weather conditions next time so it's a fair test. Will probably bring a different car next time, I was gutted that the 'mighty' MX-5 couldn't keep up with you guys, haha.
That Golf is such a shed at the moment, lol. Should be decent when finished though.
No mention of me beating your time in your car Dan  Gutted I didn't beat Haz! Haha.
Seems everyone had a wicked day though, defo have to do another sooner rather than later :)
Haha. Thought you might have guessed from the username, location and the profile pic, sorry about that!
No worries. Yeah they are fine thanks :tongueout: The video was rolling so all your one handed gangster driving is on film...
You did really well mate, massive progression and so close to the fastest time of the day! Was great having a few 'groups' of similar times so there were mini-battles throughout.
Gutted I couldn't get under a minute in your car, haha. Stupid wrong wheel drive French shitbox
Apologies for the bump but I've just stumbled across this thread via a Google search - if you're not sorted by now I'm able to help. Fire me a PM if you like :)
Had the same thing with my Safety Devices cage, bit of wood wedged in did the trick fine.
That looks a lot like ERW tube by the way, which isn't normally used for a roll cage, should be CDS ideally...
There is also a 3rd thing to check for fitment (on top of PCD and Offset) - bore. Not sure of the solution as I've not been in this predicament myself, but if you can't return them for an exchange, it might be a job for a man with a huge lathe...
It's 4 minutes in total, which is next to feck all and you'll never feel that. 60 minutes = 1 degree and 1 degree on a 15" wheel is about 7mm, therefore we're talking less than 0.5mm here. If it was 4mm then that IS a lot though and you would know about it.
Misaligned toe in itself won't cause...
Looks fine, but all they did was adjust the front tracking (which is all you can do easily / without extra parts on a Clio anyway).
As Jamie said, caster could make the car pull to one side, but they haven't measured or adjusted that. Natural road camber will make the car drive to the left too...
Yeah the DS1.11s are my fave pad so far. Fine from cold, good release characteristics, flat torque profile (don't randomly change coefficient of friction with heat build up during a braking phase), very good wear, no noise, don't fade.
Have tried Mintex 1144s (shite), 1155s (ok in the rear but...
Did the pads get correct bedding in procedure?
Brake fade - was it pad fade or pedal fade?
You can mix and match old disc / new pads / new disc / old pads without an issue, providing you remove the transfer layer if you're using old discs with a different model of pad.
Yeah, both of my sets have done the same. Never manifests into anything sinister.
First ever track day and January... hmm, as others have said, just some road tyres might be a better option, they will give you more warning when they are about to let go and shouldn't overheat too much :)
I've used both, Federals last longer than 120 compound Nankangs, both about the same grip, would go Feds for a track car. The dude above who posted the photo, either your driving or car setup (or both) need some work. Sorry if that sounds harsh bit we run Federals (on an MX5) for a full season...
Good stuff, and nice write-up :)
Seconded on the DS111s by the way, the best pads I've used (out of M1144s, RC5, RC5+, DS2500, DS3000) - good pedal feel, nice release characteristics, last ages, good price (for the calipers I have).
That's the issue with a lot of motorsport series I think, it turns into wallet racing :( Standard (or as close to possible) engines should be all that's allowed IMO. Sure you can blueprint them but the gains aren't as much as fancy cams (and all the crap that goes with them), steel cranks...
Latest update has been a while coming, but here goes...
After Anglesey, things were tight at the top of the standings, so the next race weekend at Cadwell was important. I'd had a really rough month and was really looking forward to getting away from everything and getting stuck in...
