for your road car, OE cup dampers and cooksport or Eibach springs. Use the savings over coilovers to upgrade your track car to decent coilovers imho.
Put cup wishbones with new OE bushings on both.
For the rest, Lemforder or TRW or whatever. Ive found these guys well priced...
As @TomSx says, the map makes a night and day difference. Its not the extra top end, its the way the car drives in the midrange. It would be a waste to own one and not map it IMHO
TBH, once you have the box off, I'd never risk not replacing the flywheel and slave cylinder too.
They come as a...
Everything needs a place and it needs to be accessible. Finding/making a place for everything takes ages but it's worth it.
Cupboards beat shelves for keeping things clean
Try to be a little diligent about putting stuff away, a plastic toolbox for the tools you're using for a job and then...
I had my PD130 on a hybrid turbo doing about 220 and fitted a standard spec Sachs clutch and DMF because it was a daily commuter. As long as you dont drive around flat to the boards at 1800 rpm in 6th itll be fine. That said, one with 130k on it wont.
I always wind up buying ex commercial machines and then upgrading the hard drive to SSD and maxing out the ram.
It tends to be the most economical way to a machine with a decent case construction and processor spec, with lots of ram and a quick hard drive. Sadly that spec tends to shove you...
Its got odd compressibility specs and seems to cause issues with certain seals, specifically VAG clutch seals. I've gone away from using it and back to either decent 'normal' dot 4 or RBF and similar fluids.

First build a decent foundation by refreshing the stuff thats worn out:
Braided hoses (goodridge or HEL are decent, HEL have stainless ends)
New fluid (decent DOT 4. Not ATE typ200, loads of folk have had issues with it)
Brembo HC disks (@George@RTR_Parts is you man for these, you wont get...
Because @Waitey likes to count capital expenses, but then completely ignore monthly running costs, so in spite of shelling out £1100 a month on an RS3, he spends two weeks deciding if it's worth spending 2k on his new Alpina.
I'm really not sure what you're missing here.
In a performance car, the prime reason for suspension tuning is to increase performance. The OP has observed already that the ride is better on Sachs, but cornering seems no different.
I posted to say that within sensible speeds on the road, there...
I have read what you've said, you've just not said much and what you did say wasnt addressing the points you quoted.
I said 'a difference that can be exploited', in response to the OP discussing hard cornering - if the difference is solely feel, composure and ride quality then we're back to the...
So youve genuinely spent time driving on uk roads, within a reasonable percentage of the legal limit (lets say sub 80mph), where you could see your stopping distance to be clear and see the road surface was reasonable and found the handling of a 172 on coilovers to be the limiting factor to...
Depends who you regard as average. I'm fairly sure @massivewangers meant the average hot hatch buyer, as opposed to the average car buyer.
I still very much doubt that there is a difference that can be exploited without being a danger to others.
Never tried a trophy, but I have had a 172 on cup dampers and eibachs and various other hot hatches on a multitude of suspension setups.
The 172 is good enough that on the road you're normally limited by visibility/road condition etc even on an empty road, so sure the Sachs may be better, but...
Its like everything else in law.
For instance, if I'm driving along and pressing buttons on my headunit and im pulled over, the police have the burden of proof, and they must prove that I was driving without due care and attention.
If on the other hand I'm skipping tracks on my phone, in a...
I suspect that will have to do with the rules for road rallies through the MSA as they might offer a competitive advantage and arent within the spirit of the event, rather than because they are illegal.
A bit of change coming for me, but at the moment I have this clio track car, had it on the road in 2015 but track only since, did a trackday in Feb and now up for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262906927911?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649:
One of these (picture's not mine)...
BMWs generally have some of the most linear throttles going! Small capacity shopping cars are about the worst, but fortunately dont have enough power for it to really cause a problem.
If you like it enough to hold onto it for a year, do the resto, or it will just grate with you.
If you're in any doubt, dont and punt it sooner rather than later.
But yeah, compared to the £/mile of the RS3, this will be cheap even if you rebuild it from the ground up.
That paint quote is...
