Yeah check your shocks for leaks and see if any springs have snapped. I was replacing my CV Boot clip at the weekend and found the top part of my spring had snapped off and was just hanging there but it hasn't affected handling yet.
Has anybody noticed any MPG difference after fitting this? The reason i ask is i'm sure mine has gone down by about 5MPG after fitting the Airbox and removing the valve but i haven't been for a long enough drive yet to test fully.
Got mine fitted yesterday with the standard elbow and the caf running behind the passenger headlight drawing air from where the acoustic valve used to be but not down into the arch though. I'll try and get some pics up later
Compared to 182 there was alot less body roll and the noise was something else, I swear that car could go round a long corner faster than most M3's etc but the acceleration wasn't the best.
The best thing though is you could drive it at 9/10ths most of the time and the car would love you for...
Sorry to bump an old thread but i've sat in some gum and it gone onto the suede on the seats :( Apart from the above does anybody have any ideas about removing this as i dont want to c**k the seats up by attacking them with a knife.
Hello, i've been told today that two clips have come off my CV Boot and some grease has leaked out. What i was planning to do is re-use the boots (as their fine) and just pump some more grease in and put some new clips on. Is there anything else that i need to do?
If its anything like my 106 you just need to remove the old one from the inside and you should see a hole where the stick attaches to the linkage. Then you might have to jack the car up to attach the linkage to the new stick and then just tighten the 4 bolts inside the car.
Too much really, even with the low milage. You'll need £400-500 for the belts and then you're looking at around £500 less than a non accident repaired clio. So if you could get it for around £2k it would be a good deal I reckon.
Its hard to tell without a pic but i'm pretty sure I cant fit my fist between the wheel and the top of the arch but mine is a 182 with the cup suspension so will be slightly lower. Have you got any pics?
Thats what I was thinking, you cant really tell its an issue unless you get the bonnet up. It could just be me being paranoid but i'd just like to make sure.
Anyone got any ideas to what the sound could be? If I need to get the dephaser pully changed as well I need to let the garage know ASAP.
Cheers in advance
sorry to hijack the thread but I've got a similar sound from the left hand side of the engine. I have booked the car in for a cam/aux belt change along with the tensioners on the 18th but i'm really worried about driving the car in case something goes wrong and i'm wondering if the dephaser...
The 106 Rallye forum is normally a good read if you need some info and parts, they seem a little bit more clued up than the 106 Owners Club and the 16v conversion is popular on there.
The on-cam feeling on the Rallye seems quite similar to the Clio but I had group N engine mounts on mine so when you hit 5k rpm the whole bloody thing sounded like a monster  I expect the GTI is a similar feeling after new cams.
Defo going to be my second car when i can afford it again.
