Buying a Clio 172

  Nissan 200sx
Hi, i am going to look at a 2002 clio 172 in monaco blue this weekend.

The car has a genuine mileage of 15000
maintained by the current owner reciepts to prove
The belts will need to be done
The car is completely standard

However the car was decalred a cat d write off back in september 2006

I think i will be able to get the car for around £2800-£2900,
Do you think that is a fair price if everything is ok on the car

  Williams 2 & 200
Too much really, even with the low milage. You'll need £400-500 for the belts and then you're looking at around £500 less than a non accident repaired clio. So if you could get it for around £2k it would be a good deal I reckon.

Be careful mate, sometimes with the 172 you get a much better car when the engine has been properly driven and thrashed. Sounds as if this one might have been used for trips to the shop over the last 8 years.
What was the damage like for it to be a cat d write off?

  Nissan 200sx
The car had the following items replaced:
a new front wing
door
back wing
bonnet
spoilers
front bumper
headlamps and,
sideskirts

There is no structural damage but i will confirm this when i go and view the car,
