Yeah I like the TS nights, everyone is generally couteous and gives plenty of space and even when they dont, the driving standards are good enough you dont have to worry too much!
Ouch on the disks and pads, what were you running?
Yeah, it's odd with so many people on various forums but the TrackScotland days are beginning to have a good number of clios!
I was in the white 172, what were you driving?
Odd night, fully expected it to be wet, so didnt bring all four dry wheels, just a pair, so was on rainsports on the rear...
I have flocked dash jealousy, but my dash wont come out with the cage in place and I'm not removing it just to make my already black dash furry :P
What's it like to live with/keep clean?
Well I guess it's natural predecessor in many ways is really the B7 S/RS4 in that theyre both small estates of similar weight and power and yes, you'll struggle to get 25 out of one of those in any circumstances. Even disregarding the 400bhp aspect, I doubt youd see 35mpg out of any petrol A4
I'm still blank amazed by the economy, I know its utterly not the point of the car, but just wow.
Similar state externally to mine, just no point washing them at this time of year!
Other way around but it's the cheapest way to hide the age of a car and not look out of place as plates which actually spell something are exceptionally rare and expensive.
I run goodyear agle assy 2 on my daily and uniroyal rainsports on the clio (15s so cant get the goodyears).
I've had allsorts in the past, but what I like about these is that theyre predictable. Sure the outright dry grip is less, but who is testing that on the public road? But find a puddle...
@loggyboy Yeah I am, category B license, stripped clio which is just under 1000kg, trailer is 1000kg payload, 1300 gross, car is 1330 unladen, manufacturers towing capacity of 1400, GVW of 1850kg (which allows for ~400kg in the car which is me, my partner, a spare set of wheels and a jack and a...
I've never managed to figure out how they cocked this up SO badly. My bike has better service intervals than that and makes the same or more bhp/l and shares its engine oil with the clutch and gearbox! Awesome cars and I'd love one one day, but the service schedule is just bonkers!
One of these?

Very tempted to try one - let me know how you get on!
I'm prepared to be shot down here, but barring the inlet and exhaust manifolds the engines are identical and as such the servicing is the same, belts and dephaser included.
Not at all, you asked if you could get an 80k mile 182 for your budget and while the answer is yes, its likely to be ropey (relatively) whereas you could get (for example) a 100k mile 172 which has had all the bushes replaced and the belts done for similar money but because you're at the top end...
The last time my car had work at a garage other than tyres and MOT was in 2004 when I got an exhaust fitted. We're not talking about new cars in warranty, or 3-6 year old cars where dealer service history matters. What buyers want to see is the telltale signs that the current and past owners...
Worth pointing out the difference between these two:
One is fully welded, the other is just stitched. Either is ok installed as they should be, under the car and through the panel, but installing the second plates as the first are shown would be fairly dangerous, especially for the main lap...
Theyve been hot/greasy, but the shoulders are better than I expected. You tend to see featering around the outer shoulder and even as far as the edge of the wrigint on the sidewall at times owing to FAR too little camber on soft carcass tyres.
They're not ideal from the point of view of stiffness, but in wet/drying conditions I've so far found them to be predictable and stick well, I switch for the A048s mainly to stop the rainsports disintegrating with heat rather than because they dont work.
Tuition is always good.
Stock front...
Was it wet or dry? In the dry my rainsports tend to be a bit wishy washy (soft sidewalls and lots of tread) but I normally swap them pretty quickly for something more track focussed.
Regardless, those pressures are much too high. I normally aim to run 30 hot so start at more like 25 than 35.
If...
You'll only have to push them back if the disks have huge lips on them, otherwise they should slot out and back in.
I found my squealing was worn carriers and slider pins and the whole caliper was 'chattering' on the slides in spite of grease.
