Idles at about 700rpm, it was cold though picks up once its warm. Probably a bit low but for piece of mind im going to replace all the sensors to make sure its running spot on. I could change the oil but its still very clean, being a cup race car its never had dirty oil in it. There is no sludge...
Just took a video tonight. I had just started the car up so it was cold which makes me think its not the dephaser. Notice how the time gap between the taps, this makes me think its only 1 tappet. http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/betaboy/?action=view¤t=Video003.flv
Ah ok thanks, had seen some mentioning of Laguna hubs somewhere. Are they modified in anyway from standard? as im sure the top whole is slotted for camber adjustment on my car, it may be the reason they used them over clio hubs if thats standard.
Yeah they are abit agricultural, but it never did it when i got the car. And it just sound like one as the tapping is every one turn of the camshaft, not 16 tapps every turn if you get what i mean. There is deffinatly something wrong, So it sounds like im not going to be able to find which one...
Just the hub, the struts are different as they use bilstein inserts. Just looking into buying some spares for my cup racer so i can build them up with the shafts, wishbone etc. Makes for a quick change if i hit a corner.
Doesnt really sound like it does on the video, that sounds as if all the tappets have failed, but mine sounds like its just 1 if you get what i mean. ill try take a video tomorrow and post it up. it gets worse the more you rev it and turns into a fairly bad vibration when reving high.
def not as it does it all the time even when reving. not the same noise as the dephaser either. only thing i can think of is a tappet, doubt its a snapped rocker as the car runs fine otherwise.
One of my tappets seems to have got really noisy as if it has completly failed and is not pumping up at all. Its one on the pulley side of the cams, but obviously its going to be hard to pin point wich one just by listening.
When ive got the head apart is there anyway of telling which one is...
Ok thanks, Ill price up both and see what the price difference is. I live in Jersey so we dont pay VAT here, but knowing renault over here they charge the VAT price over here to make more money.
Renault would be the safest bet yes, but like other car manufacturers they usually have there parts made by a thrid party company, like BMW with ATE, ford with motorcraft etc. Is this the same for renault? or do they make there own parts..
And yeah i need to buy the tools so i can do the belt my...
Hi,
We have just bought a 1.4 16v clio for my sisters first car and it needs a cambelt and tensioner, plus auxilary belt etc. But as to save my dad some money im going to do the work myself.
Where should i buy the parts from, or what is a decent brand of parts to buy, ie: the company that...
On my cup race car i have either 2118's or 2020's, the thing is how can i tell which ones they are as they look identicle. they have been powder coated so cant tell by speedline writting on the face etc. There pretty light too, but it could just be cause im use to wheels like compomotives which...
Go for the gripper over the quaife if its for a hilclimb car. An ATB is a comprimise for road cars. The gripper is a competition plate diff so if thats what you intending to use the car for then its the diff you want.
Ive got an issue with the rear brake caliper on my cup. i changed the rear pads yesterday but i noticed when i tightened the caliper bolts up it no longer slid on its sliders anymore. while changing the pads i re-greased all the sliders and they were in alright condtion bit of wear but nothing...
keep the drums they lock up better. althought you may want to invest in some new shoes by the sounds of it as it should lock up easy on the cable one anyway.
drums are better cable or hydraulic, when fitting a hyrdo handbrake properly you are ment to remove the pressure reducing valve on the rear axle and fit it either before the hydro handbrake or fit an adjustable bias valve before it. otherwise the handbrake master cylinder pressure will just be...
Anyone? ive since found out the RS models have a different rack. But can anyone tell me how many turns lock to lock its ment to be, so i can go messure mine..
cheers
mike
Yeah the rears have been changed for dampening adjustable items, i still have the origional bilsteins for the rear along with a spare set of inserts for the fronts. Ill get a pick anyway just to clear things up.
Ohright thats a shame. Yeah there renault sport bilsteins, is that £2500 just for the front inserts nothing else? If so im gonna be selling my spares to make some money lol.
Would i be rite in saying that my cup race car has the same body as these coilovers? If so are you able to get the inserts for them? Would deffinatly be insterested in some new inserts with matching springs for rally use..
