Technically there isn't an option to turn them "off" as such, you only have three settings. The auto function replaces the intermittent setting.
One click down for auto, adjust the sensitivity with the dial.
Two clicks down for on constantly at slow speed
Three down for on constantly at high...

You're opening the door too quickly after unlocking it. Mine does it too.
The Mk2s are worse, the alarm properly goes off if you open it too quickly on them.
It's a lot easier. 1.2s are completely different to drive to 172/182. Steering is lighter, clutch is a lot lighter, gearbox is even sloppier, throttle is ridiculously unresponsive in comparison too.
40mm still looks standard. Go as low as you possibly can while still being able to go where you want. A 1.2 can handle 70mm without getting stuck anywhere.
