Actually scrub that, its total b****cks open control panel and select tools then folder options at the bottom of the list, in the tasks bit make sure its got show common tasks in folders selected. that will make the bit on the left re-appear.

Looks like its in classic mode mate right click the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and select properties at the bottom of the list, then click the start menu tab and make sure its got start menu rather than classic menu highlighted.

If you've updated your firmware and it keeps dropping out, check your client lease time and stick as high as it will go, the update might have reset it to a low figure.
