    Port Matching - QUESTION

I'd leave them a smidge smaller than the gasket holes unless you gonna take the time to see how the two manifold halves match up. You don't want a step up for the air to cross. A small step down is less of an issue.

    Beginner Track Day

What you do is a different type of fun at track days and great if you have have the time, hobby funds and are going through a stint of being fed up with just driving and want to learn more about Car mechanics and their effects. I personally found you need a lot more skill, time and equipment...

    Beginner Track Day

Best thing to do when your young or new to driving is to get your daily on track. You will experience all the things that would get you into trouble on the road. A good driver isn't all about speed. A good driver has complete control and can achieve flawless consistency. I passengered in a Corsa...

    BMW E46 to 197

Pretty sure the MK3's have proper VVT not a low end and high end switch point and the Mk2's kick is down to Renault only giving it best power fuelling from just before that point onwards so it's not a good thing! Someone has just posted some 172 graphs showing what it's like. The MK3's lump is a...

    Rolling road results graph

There's a reason the RS tuner is so popular. Chip wasn't joking about the jump in fuelling causing the kick. Can't comment on the top end fuelling as I've no knowledge of what gives these cars best power. Sorry.

    172 cup windscreen

Cup doesn't have an athermic windscreen. The one on my Dads 182FF had an area that would allow GPS signals etc to pass through. Same windscreen as base model clios I thought.

Buying the right parts for track use.

Have coming from the 205 a rear anti-roll bar may be required as the Clios rear end is much more planted and needs a little more provacation to play but as said see how you go.

    Performance Air filter?

Worth a couple of bhp so not noticeable and if over oiled they cover the throttle body in a horrible oily mess. It's all about the change in induction noise.

Can I do a novice track day with a cage

I'd be surprised if they'd say no. Novice surely refers to the driver regardless of the car. If you went on and started masterfully carving everyone up like a seasoned track day c**t they would call you on that.

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

Sods law is exactly that. I'm always the one that gets caught so I don't do it!!

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

He means that his own results were different to that (see first few posts) By quite a margin at higher speeds. Autocar tend to use VBOX equipment which is accurate enough or should be. Autocar are not infallable and I was surprised at their results considering I'm sure my Cup was showing a bit...

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

Probably happy that you slowed down showing your paying attention and give a monkeys! Take a breath and just deal with it if the worse happens. I worry too so I now what it's like!

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

As above post says tyre pressures can make a difference so a mph here or there at 30 is easily possible. This is why it's unlikely they would do someone for 31mph. My Sat nav and lorry tachometer disagree by 1mph.

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

Autocar recorded 31 on the Speedo at a true 30 and 63 at a true 60 and 119 at a try 110. Like I said I did the same in a berlingo van whose Speedo reads the same as a Clio and nothing happened :) Fingers crossed!

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

Did the same thing in a Berlingo van a couple of times in the pharmacy job I had before my Class 2 licence and nothing happened. When the Cameras were operated by Separate entities there were stories of zero tolerance polices on the basis that speedos do tend to over read and anyone doing the...

    Speedo Tolerances on clios

If you got done with 33 on the speedo in a car then lorries would be piling up the points as tachos and lorry Speedos are pretty much bang on. This is why lorry drivers get cheesed off with people flying into the inside lane at average speed monitored road works and dropping down to anything...

    front camber help!

-1.75 is all you'll get from many camber bolts. A Ford focus runs -1 so you'll be fine with -1.5. The rear is around the -1.3 Mark.

    Have a 200T edc for 24hrs

I can happily do without them having had them. Even though they are supposedly self levelling they still do a grand job of blinding me to the point where I've had to pull over when a car that has them has come round a corner. I think they're ruddy dangerous. If you can't see far enough with a...

    Have a 200T edc for 24hrs

Yep. I picked up a load of BMW camshafts from federal mogal when I was a van driver. Peugeot did have a shock absorber factory but it's all KYB now. No wants to make their own bits anymore when they can just get someone else to do it and then bolt it on. Mass produced cars. It's why I always...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

I see them more as the final touch to some well implemented suspension mods as although Mark cups use of them on a largely standard cup proved a success I think they allow you to overwork the standard components. I'm really struggling on wether to stay with road tyres when my conti's are dead...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

I managed 4secs difference at a 2mile airfield Sprint between knackered budgets (just wanted to test the mechanicals on my XR2) and a new set of medium AO48R's. On a Honda CRX the difference between a midrange road tyre and some AO48R's was more than half that on the same circuit. We were...

    Have a 200T edc for 24hrs

Bad example on my part but bearings, brake parts, clutches, dampers, springs and service parts that I've removed from my Peugeot that are genuine parts aren't made by Peugeot.

    Have a 200T edc for 24hrs

PSA supposedly but most of the electrics are stamped Bosch or Siemens for example and their shocks are now KYB which Renault have also used. So many parts are bought in now it's mad to say one car is vastly more reliable than another. Look at the dual mass issue. Same flywheels fitted to many...

    Have a 200T edc for 24hrs

How much of a Renault is actually Renault? I was suprised by how many parts aren't made by Peugeot on my 52 plate 206.

    Brake Calipers

If you track the car or are heavy on the brakes then a high temp will be needed. I've boiled off the blue the previous owner used on the front calipers over the last few track days.

182 won't select any gears some times?

Linkage shouldn't need adjusting unless someone has moved it in the past. If you do adjust it. Mark it or measure it so you can return it to where it was if it all goes wrong.

182 won't select any gears some times?

Inspect the linkage for dry joints and wear before assuming the worst. Check gearbox oil as these boxes do leak where the selector shaft comes out the box as it faces down. Mines has a quickshift and the change was terrible until I rectified the bone dry and worn joints.

Couple of minor niggles with my new 172 cup

Changes in geometry under power. Squishy rubber mounts that give a nice ride don't help. Hence why Ford and Renault started farting around with more complex front hubs. You'll get used to it or if it is really bad then investigate tired bushes. Wheel hop from a standing start when you give it...

My new LY 275 Trophy (photo heavy)

Running in for road cars died a while ago. Engine technology has moved on. Some would argue that with synthetic oils specs these days you need to give the engine a right ass kicking to really get it to bed in. A settling of fuel consumption is usually a good sign most of the loosening up is done.
