Do people have to top their F4R's up? I've never topped the oil up in any of mine, always stayed at MAX between services! - Always ripping into my Honda mates for using oil!
Prolines:
Sportlines:
Not much in it in reality, the sportlines were newly fitted there so probably dropped a TAD, ride comfort I wouldn't say there is much in it either, I remember expecting the pro's would ride a lot better and being surprized that they didn't, but not that either of them...
Has your mechanic actually done any diagnosing? What makes him think it's the compressor or is he just guessing?
Has it had a diagnostics on it? AC pressure sensor giving a reading? A fault on the system will inhibit the AC compressor from engaging
the 200 cup one was available a couple of months back and is a straight swap, i got one for mine from RPD, arrived next day and comes with the track rod and rod ends! - quicker rack too so an upgrade for a 197/200 non cup
Renault Clio 200 Cup Steering Rack 8200824576 - Renault Parts Direct
Sure it's not the thermostat housing cracked above the gearbox, I used to do about 5 a week! Usually people continue to drive them with no water and then toast the head gasket
The genuine items are a bargain too!
I moved from 197 non cup to 200cup all round and it's extremely stiff for a road car, I sometimes wonder if I would have been better going for 197 cup or non cup setup instead.
Unplug the 3 multi plugs from the UCH and leave it for 5 mins and re insert, see if it temporarily fixes it, usually that's a sign the UCH is starting to play up.
its behind the glove box, pop your head in the foot well and look up behind the glove box and you should be able to see them
cheap ones are a false economy. i nearly loose a finger every time i try and remove a set so id be double raging if i nearly lost a finger then couldn't see in the rain
Tensioner will most likely have failed. I would get it sorted ASAP as if it takes the aux belt out there is a high chance it will wrap its self round the crank pulley and jump the timing belt taking the engine with it, and engines are getting expensive!
A lot of people say they all do it, but mine never when they were new. My current 197 had it, I threw coils and plugs at it with little to no improvement.
Fitted one of those machines alloy map sensor brackets that hold it in tight and it was like a new car!!
Still had the occasional stutter...
yeah they never do show as an import for some reason, i dont know the ins and outs. But the alarms were fitted at the UK import centre when renault brought them into the country so ones without are always imported by the car supermarket (unless its been removed of course)
does it have an alarm? (sensors on the pillars and red LED on the gearstick surround), Locking wheel nuts and window etching? If not its probably an import, loads of them were
Low mileage 1.6 16v k4m is a straight swap as they are virtually identical. Or a 2.0 f4r but engines are getting pricey unless you go for one of the 140hp variants from the laguna
im on my 4th mk3 RS, every time i get rid of one i say NO MORE, absolute money pits. My current 197 has almost bankrupt me and I'm in to deep to get out so im putting up with it, one the right day on the right road its unbeatable, to live with its a nightmare.
